Weibao Wang was hired by Apple to handle the company’s confidential material about self-driving cars, only to then suddenly leave and join a Chinese start-up owned by Baidu.

In an act of apparent industrial espionage, Wang’s new company is said to be developing self-driving cars with information they obtained from his American employer.

A federal jury has indicted Wang on charges of theft of trade secrets.

In November 2017, three months after he left Apple, Wang took a job as a so-called staff engineer at “Company One.” This is a corporate subsidiary of the Chinese government aimed at manufacturing autonomous vehicles.

Paradoxically, Wang’s LinkedIn page still has him assigned as an employee of Apple. In contrast, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of California still has not given the Chinese company’s name.

Wang was found to be an employee of Baidu’s subsidiary Jidu by Reuters, which published an article in June 2022 detailing the developments of Chinese self-driving cars.

Originally from Mountain View, California, Wang has stored vast amounts of data taken from Apple during his employment with the company.

Wang was present for the search, but boarded a flight from San Francisco International Airport to Guangzhou, China later that night.

Wang could face up to 10 years in prison if extradited to the U.S. and a $250,000 fine for the material he stole from Apple.

Unlike Wang, who was a CCP spy, American political actors have also handed out secrets. Former President Obama told Congress in 2015 about permitting China access to U.S. nuclear information and technologies.

Likewise, there were reports from Capital Research about President Bill Clinton allegedly selling missile technology to China.
