Amazon, the online retail giant, recently found itself in hot water for featuring penis-themed neon signs on its website, bizarrely marked as “for kids.”
One such product, is a neon sign named “Lick Penis,” displays an image quite suggestive in nature: a tongue making contact with a penis.
Accompanying the product are marketing images showcasing young women provocatively licking lollipops and gazing into the camera, as reported by Daily Caller.
Moreover, there’s a neon sign for a “Flying Penis” option that’s also flagged as suitable “for kids.” This advertisement interestingly includes a picture of a cheerful child situated next to the sign.
These product listings, with their explicit content, sparked controversy not merely for the content itself, but also for the oddly inappropriate labeling as child-friendly merchandise.
The product descriptions astonishingly tagged these items as “fit for children’s room decoration.”
As per Daily Caller’s report, these controversial listings fall under the “Cowboy Frog” brand. This brand, seemingly of Chinese origin, boasts a wide array of neon signs. Their product range spans from cowboy frog designs to open lighter signs.
The listings also included a sign displaying a vulva, but unlike the penis-themed signs, it wasn’t explicitly marked as child-friendly.
Kennington discovered these eyebrow-raising listings while searching for LED signs for her children’s rooms. She took to the internet to express her astonishment.
She wrote, “I was searching last night for some cute LED neon signs for my kids’ rooms. Then, the neon sign “Lick Penis” wall decor popped up in the results. The title also says the neon lights are appropriate for kids’ room. There’s simply no justification for this.”
In the wake of public outcry, Amazon took action and removed the contentious products from its website. When approached for a comment by the Daily Caller News Foundation, Amazon chose to remain silent and did not respond.
