NextImg:Yet Another Plane Accident at DC's Reagan Airport, Several Congressmen Were Aboard Flights

I was flying across the country Wednesday night, and I couldn’t help but think about the recent tragedy in late January, which took the lives of 67 people when a military helicopter slammed into a commuter flight coming in for a landing at Washington D.C.’s  Reagan airport.

There have been several high-profile incidents since, but luckily, none on the same scale as that disaster.

The airport was hit with yet another accident Thursday, though it appears that no one was seriously injured (or worse). Still, it’s not a good thing when aircraft worth hundreds of millions of dollars carrying hundreds of human beings clip wings on the runway.

In the latest accident, a taxiing plane hit a parked one:

Several members of Congress were on board the planes when their wings collided on Thursday, with New York Congressman Nick LaLota sharing an X post from inside one of the jets.

'Another plane just bumped into our wing. Heading back to the gate, but thankfully everyone is ok!' he wrote.

The Republican described that everyone appeared to be OK:

The New York Congressman shared an image out of his plane window and said fellow member of Congress Grace Meng was 'handing out grapes' to other passengers during their delay.

Meanwhile, New Jersey Rep. Josh Gottheimer despicably turned it into a political statement:

While waiting to take off on the runway at DCA just now, another plane struck our wing. Thankfully, everyone is safe.

Just a reminder: Recent cuts to the FAA weaken our skies and public safety.

Do I need to tell you that he’s a Democrat? You probably already figured that out. Transportation Secretary Sean Duggy quickly called him out on his gross take:

The Left Is Blaming Trump for D.C. Air Disaster, but FAA Began Weeding Out Qualified Candidates in 2013

I am not an aviation expert and cannot say with certainty that there’s a systemic problem with Reagan Airport and its air traffic control operations, but if there is, I expect Duffy and the Trump administration will do something about it. Although planes clipping wings may not be a disaster, it’s still far too close for comfort.
