NextImg:Worst Outlet of the Week - Who Took Bottom Honors in the Latest Round of Dysfunctional Media?

The past week saw the press complex of this country largely consumed with the gerrymandering issue, and this proved difficult for the press to grapple with in their exuberance. They wanted to applaud the Democrats who escaped Texas on a field trip to the Windy City, while needing to excuse that to “save democracy,” they were trampling democracy by refusing to conduct their basic job duties. Then, in trying to demonize the Texas redistricting plans, they felt the need to explain away all of the Democrat-run states that are already heavily gerrymandered.

It has not gone well.

Then there was the ongoing desire to recalibrate immigration sweeps by ICE, more Sydney Sweeney fallout, a conservative dared to invade the cherished environment of late-night talk shows, and even the dicey topic of sexual marital aids being thrown onto the basketball courts at WNBA games. Let’s tug on the hip waders, begin trudging through the muck and mire that is our media complex, and determine who took top (bottom) honors this week.

     THE CONTENDERS

Associated Press – The news syndicate cracks the Top 5 on the strength of its lengthy weepy profile on the “victims” of the exploding pager attack on Hezbollah by Israel’s IDF. There was effusive coverage of one Democrat getting rave applause at a town hall in Arizona (Ruben Gallego saying Trump will make the country poorer and sicker was described as being “upbeat”), while they also saw the need to slam GOP Rep. Mike Flood for having astroturf “Democrats” screeching at his event.

New York Magazine – The verticals at this magazine empire were dismayed that talk show host Jimmy Fallon dared to invite Greg Gutfeld to “The Tonight Show.” At The Verge, it was said Fallon was kissing Gutfeld’s ring, and at The Cut the distemper the next morning was rather evident. Adding to the imbalanced reaction to things, at The Intelligencer, we Learned President Trump tried to distract the country from a scandal – by walking around on the roof of the White House.

Reuters – The outlet delivered the latest iteration of “Maryland Father,” reframing the story of an illegal immigrant detained. The site tried to say Trump is imperiling Americans by pulling FEMA workers to start working with ICE; the fact is, he is only using the Human Resources employees to aid in signing up more ICE agents, and relief teams are not at all affected. We are told that Trump is incapable of delivering opinions on Sydney Sweeney and running the world at the same time.

MSNBC – In a lengthy rant on how Trump is ruining the country, Rachel Maddow was vying for an Emmy nomination (for Best Dramatic Performance, not for journalism). Former FBI agent Christopher O’Leary complained the DOJ was “weaponizing” the courts for Russian collusion charges by seeking to find a state where the jury will be slanted to the right, instead of remaining in D.C., where he states the jury will be slanted to the left. Also on the weaponization narrative was David French, appearing on the network that hates conservatives, but somehow loves him. Jonathan Capehart nods like a dolt when Beto O’Rourke claims Democrats prefer to play by the rules in attempting to gain power, ignoring Texas Dems breaking the rules and blocking a vote.

    THE WINNER

CNN

It was a close one at the finish, but MSNBC lagged by simply being patently ridiculous while “your home for breaking news” was embarrassing on the regular.

Texas State Representative Brian Harrison unravelled Kaitlan Collins on the redistricting narratives they regularly spit out.

Jake Tapper laughably claimed that GOP-run states are the worst with redistricting.

It was said that investigating the slanderous details behind the Russian collusion fraud was wrong because - for some reason - Russia will be cheering that to take place???

Audie Cornish suggested that tariffs will make school supplies so expensive that you will need a payment plan for crayons. ("Let's see, ma'am. You want six No. 2s and a box of Crayolas. That'll be 75 cents a month for 24 months.")

VP JD Vance called out the network for lying about an alleged meeting over the Epstein files, said to be taking place in the vice presidential residence.

Aaron Blake declared Trump’s legal efforts mean he is “on a retribution tour,” all while failing to comprehend that retribution would have to entail prior attacks on the man.

The outlet claims that Trump ordered a portrait of President Obama to be relocated to “a hidden stairwell” – but in reality it now hangs with other presidential portraits in the White House Grand Staircase.

To condemn inherent sexism in the practice, CNN was reduced to reporting on “dildos being thrown onto the court” during WNBA games.
