NextImg:Who Knew? Apple iPhone's Voice-to-Text Feature Occasionally Displays 'Trump' When User Says 'Racist'

In this episode of "Try to Control Your Shock and Amazement"...

Yep, in a "shocking" (ahem) development, Apple’s iPhone voice-to-text feature is sparking controversy after a viral TikTok video showed a user speaking the word "racist," which at first showed up on the phone as "Trump" before switching back to "racist."

Fox News Digital was able to replicate the issue multiple times. The voice-to-text dictation feature was observed flashing "Trump" when a user said "racist" before it quickly changed back to "racist" – just like in the TikTok video.

An Apple spokesperson said on Tuesday that the company is addressing the issue.

We are aware of an issue with the speech recognition model that powers Dictation, and we are rolling out a fix as soon as possible.

I'm sure they are. No— seriously. I mean now that the "bug" has gone viral, I'm sure Apple execs want to put out the woke company's latest fire as quickly as it can.

According to Fox, Apple said the speech-recognition models that power dictation might temporarily display words with some "phonetic overlap" before displaying the correct word. The company also said that the bug affects other words with an "r" consonant when dictated.

Hmmm.

Simply, the definition of "phonetic" is "the way spoken words sound," while "overlap" means "to extend over, so as to cover partly."

Not to nitpick — and I'm certainly not a professional phonetician — but two-syllable "racist" begins with a hard "r" sound, while single-syllable "Trump" begins with a hard "t" sound. Besides, of all of the untold numbers of words that begin with "Tr," why is it that "Trump" is displayed out all of those words when preceded by "racist" of all words?

Coincidence? Weird (consistent) quirk? Please. I'm not buying it, particularly given Apple's long history of "leaning" to the left and supporting left-wing causes. Besides, this wasn't the first time a Big Tech product has sparked controversy for insulting Trump.

Here's more, via Fox Digital:

A video went viral in September showing the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant explaining reasons for voting for then-Vice President Kamala Harris while refusing to provide similar responses for Trump.

Representatives from the online shopping giant briefed staffers from the House Judiciary Committee about the incident and explained that Alexa uses pre-programmed manual overrides created by Amazon’s information team to respond to certain prompts from users, according to a source familiar with the briefing.

For example, Alexa would tell users who asked for reasons to vote for Trump or then-President Joe Biden, "I cannot provide content that promotes this specific political party or candidate."

Prior to the release of the viral video, Amazon had only programmed manual overrides for Biden and Trump, failing to add Harris because very few users were asking Alexa about reasons to vote for her, the source said.

Again, nothing to see here, just move along and keep buying the nonsense (lies), America.

Incidentally, or perhaps coincidentally, as RedState reported on Friday, Apple CEO Tim Cook met with President Donald Trump at the White House last Tuesday, after which Trump announced that the company would halt the production of two manufacturing facilities in Mexico and instead build them in the United States.

As Trump said at the time, "They don't want to pay the tariffs." Instead, given that importers pay tariffs — not exporters — Apple is likely to benefit financially from tax incentives for building the facilities in this country.

But here's the question — and it also applies to Facebook, Amazon, and other Big Tech companies:

Is it possible that Tim Cook and Apple are interested in playing both sides against the middle, meaning satisfying Trump on the one hand, while continuing to allow "mistakes" and "bugs" to "coincidentally" trash him and conservative content?

Only time will tell.
