NextImg:While Kamala’s Book Complains of Only Having 107 Days, Republicans Had All the Time in the World

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is out with a new book that is making waves throughout the Democratic Party. However, they are mostly angry waves as she deflects blame for her loss during the 2024 presidential election. The book, titled “107 Days,” is as short as her presidential bid. The idea she’s trying to relay with the title is not that she was a flawed candidate, but that she didn’t have enough time for voters to get to know her. The Republican disinformation campaign stained her opportunity for the White House and soiled her solid reputation as a prosecutor and former California senator.

For the sake of eliminating the argument, let’s say that she was a strong candidate. That she was qualified for the position, and that she was likable and had a grasp on the English language.

Let’s put all that aside. The question itself is a good one; did Kamala Harris actually have enough time to run for president?

Here’s the truth. Going back to 2023, Republicans knew President Biden would be replaced by Vice President Harris. Conservatives on TV, local and national radio, podcasts, YouTube, and anywhere else people listen to their favorite pundits were all saying this. Not because conservatives had special inside information, but because we accurately followed our eyes and ears. Host of the “Clay and Buck Show” and founder of Outkick.com, Clay Travis had this to say in January of 2024:

“Joe Biden is the weakest incumbent president of our life. If the election were today, he’d lose to Trump, DeSantis, Haley, or Vivek. Which is why I think he’s getting replaced.”

President Biden showed continual decline both mentally and physically throughout his first term in office. During a speech at the White House, Biden clearly tried to recognize former Rep. Jackie Walorski of Indiana, who had passed away months earlier.

Just last week, after skirting years of accountability, Biden’s former chief of staff, Jeff Zients, testified before the House Oversight Committee. Zients' testimony contradicts what we’ve heard for years from both the administration and the media, highlighting that he did, in fact, see decline from President Biden. Mark Halperin of 2Way’s The Morning Meeting put it this way:

“He testified and the people who were most in charge of managing the decline took the Fifth,” says @MarkHalperin about Biden chief of staff Jeff Zients’ appearance before the House Oversight Committee. “I’m telling you, folks, this is headed to a really bad place for those involved in the attempted coverup.” Zients reportedly testified in detail how Joe Biden struggled in his final years in office. Biden’s White House doctor — Kevin O’Connor — and top Biden aides Anthony Bernal and Annie Tomasini all took the Fifth. “Zients’ testimony and Ron Klain's testimony— someday those are going to be held up side by side,” Mark says.

The Bizarre, Bitter, Homophobic End to Kamala Harris' Political Career

How did all of this hurt Kamala’s run for president? Well, years prior, the Trump team and conservatives had prepared for this outcome. While Harris was building a team and fundraising, Republicans just hit go on the massive campaign they'd prepared to highlight her record and ridiculous claims—one being paying for illegal aliens to have healthcare, paid for by American taxpayers. Frankly, we just waited until the coup took place, which quickly happened after the first debate between President Biden and President Trump. Once the entire country saw what Republicans had been saying for years, Democrats quickly took action and forced Biden out.

While Harris was well known, it was not enough to overshadow her lack of political instincts and likability. Harris was soundly rejected at the ballot box as President Trump took home both the Electoral College and the popular vote. Is that something I have to remind the left about? No, but it's always fun, and I like to mention it every opportunity I get.

While former Vice President Harris is selling books, it’s hard to see how disparaging the Bidens and the Democratic Party writ large will benefit her in the future. Here’s the hard truth: Kamala Harris is a very flawed candidate. She struggled to answer serious questions on the economy, foreign policy, and illegal immigration—which led to a shellacking on Election Day. While it’s very hard to run for president, and certainly answer questions on live TV, in order to be president, these are things that one has to do and do very well. I don’t see a world where Harris is ever the Democratic nominee again. I can only assume she’s taking her book money and going home.
