Democrat lawmakers' constant portrayal of ICE agents as Nazis who are "disappearing" people is coming back to bite them hard. When you consistently depict law enforcement as evil, your unhinged base is going to expect more evil to counter them.
It turns out those voters are looking for more violence.
Axios on Monday published an astonishing report citing numerous Democrat members of Congress who say their voters want to see representatives literally willing to take a bullet to "protect our democracy."
Several lawmakers chose to keep their identities shielded to offer candid assessments about what they're seeing from their base at various town halls and speaking events. It's more than likely they did so because some of that base is clearly unhinged.
"Some of them have suggested ... what we really need to do is be willing to get shot," when visiting ICE facilities, one House Democrat told Axios.
They added, "Our own base is telling us that what we're doing is not good enough ... [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public."
Another unnamed resistance lawmaker tells the outlet that his constituents have insisted "civility isn't working" and Democrats need to prepare for "violence ... to fight to protect our democracy."

Some of the lawmakers Axios spoke to said their constituents didn't go quite that far, but even that group of sources offered jaw-dropping comments suggesting Democratic voters want to see violence against ICE agents.
"It's like ... the Roman coliseum. People just want more and more of this spectacle," another lawmaker relayed.
The members of Congress who spoke indicated that those voters most likely to support violence and extreme actions to protect criminal illegal aliens are "white, well-educated, and live in upscale suburban or urban neighborhoods."
Another case for dismantling the American education system, if ever there were one. These individuals were fed lies throughout their education and are now attempting to apply those falsehoods to the real world. No, libs, ICE agents aren't Nazis. And violent criminals who enter the country illegally aren't simply family men and women who want to make their lives better.
It's like that line from an old British sketch comedy in which the actual evildoers come to the realization, "Are we the baddies?"
Yes, liberals calling for violence against law enforcement while coddling the lawbreakers - you are the baddies.

"What I have seen is a demand that we get ourselves arrested intentionally or allow ourselves to be victims of violence, and ... a lot of times that's coming from economically very secure white people," another Democrat told Axios.
They went on to suggest doing so would be a gift to President Trump since lawmakers would be bogged down in legal troubles, and since they are "disproportionately people of color, women, LGBTQ people," they would have a tougher time in prison.
You know, because the legal system was just so fair to the President in the past.
Leftist voters are even demanding that their representatives engage in an insurrection.
"People online have sent me crazy s***," one member of Congress said, "told me to storm the White House and stuff like that."
All of this follows a theme amongst Democrat voters which has been escalating for months and is, God forbid, about to boil over at some point. Back in March, several lawmakers complained that voters were demanding they up the ante when it comes to stopping Trump, even at one point leaving one in tears.
Perhaps the scariest part of all of this is that Democrats seem more than willing to listen to these people. They have been ramping up their extreme behaviors in an attempt to appease them. They've already started the ridiculous calls for impeachment. And who could forget Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) intentionally getting himself tackled by law enforcement and Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) getting indicted for assaulting and interfering with immigration officers outside a New Jersey detention center.
How long before they push too far against law enforcement to appease their bloodthirsty base?
