The pushback is increasing against the hideously unfair practice of allowing "transgender" girls, or as we call them, boys, to compete in girls' sports. We've been over the hows and whys of this being cruelly unfair to the girls involved, and no doubt will again. But for now, let's extend a salute to a great group of young women athletes from Tumwater, Washington, who clearly have had enough.
The banner, proclaiming "This is not a walkout, we're not going anywhere," is precisely on point. These girls shouldn't go anywhere; their voices need to be heard right where they are. What they are doing is not lending this lunacy any credibility by participating. Not anymore.
As we might suspect, the protest was preceded by yet another boy cosplaying as a girl dominating a girl's event, this time a state track meet.
As is so often the case, this nonsense wasn't even close. This boy, "Veronica" Garcia, stole a title to which he - yes, he - is not entitled. He may well deprive a girl athlete of real opportunities, a girl who has trained and worked and competed only to be beaten by a boy who is gaming the system. Championships like this can lead to scholarships and other rewards, which is, no doubt, what "Veronica" Garcia is angling for.
What's more, I would bet serious money that "Veronica" Garcia does not genuinely suffer from gender dysphoria. This boy is, as noted, gaming the system, using a social contagion to gain recognition and awards to which he isn't entitled.
Girls' basketball player Frances Stauft was one of the girls who decided she'd had enough. She's the one who organized the protest:
Good for her. We can hope that this produces some results, but in Washington? It's hard to know; several states are defying the Trump administration's mandates on this.

One of the stars of this sort of pushback is former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines, a tireless voice for women's sports, who said:
This is how this lunacy will end for good: When the girls and women who are being displaced refuse to participate any longer. It doesn't matter if a thousand boys are claiming to be girls cheating in this manner, or only one; this thing isn't just wrong in an instance, it's wrong in essence. Boys have significant physical advantages over girls, no matter what pronouns they proclaim, what clothes they wear, or how long they let their hair grow.
Here's another thing to think on. In a few years, every one of these girls will be voting. It's plain as day which party favors this lunacy and which one opposes it. This could have a significant effect as soon as the 2026 and 2028 elections.
