One of the things that many found remarkable about Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was his willingness to come together with people with whom he might disagree to talk and discuss differences.
Indeed, that was the whole premise of his "Prove Me Wrong" debates. He was engaging in that process of coming together and debating at the exact moment he was assassinated.
Here's an example where he helped bring a liberal father and a conservative son to a little better understanding of their respective positions. He advised them not to let their politics harm their relationship with each other.
Now Kirk's memorial might have just achieved a powerful demonstration of bringing people together.

In addition to bringing out 200,000 people and delivering some impassioned remarks honoring Kirk, it brought on a surprising moment at the event, as X owner Elon Musk, who had a break in relations with President Donald Trump some months ago, was seen sitting down next to him at the memorial. They shook hands and then appeared to speak warmly. UFC legend Dana White was on Trump's right.
You can see Trump clap Elon on the knee a couple of times, clearly showing how pleased he was that Elon was there, and Elon grinned in response.
Now that's a powerful moment.
And it's a reconciliation moment that Charlie Kirk himself predicted would happen on his Salem radio show as he spoke about how Trump had a forgiving nature, making up with people he may have had issues with in the past, even with Ron DeSantis, when there had been a lot of battling. He appreciated what Musk had done in buying X and how that helped free speech.
It looks like Kirk was right.
I think both Trump and Musk wanted it, but it was just the question of how to get there, and the memorial helped make it a reality. Now, maybe they can work, in common cause, to get things done for the country.
