NextImg:Watch: Pot Meets Kettle as Totally Self-Unaware CNN Blasts Fox News 'Outrage Porn'

In this hilarious episode of "The Most Trusted Name in News™"...

As we reported on Thursday, Rupert Murdoch will relinquish his chairmanship of Fox News and News Corp to his son, Lachlan Murdoch, in November. The 92-year-old media mogul will be named Chairman Emeritus of both companies. Love him or loathe him, Murdoch changed the cable news market like none before him.

In other words, the Murdoch announcement provided a perfect opportunity for CNN to go full-metal CNN while promptly shooting itself in both feet as it ridiculously tried to portray Fox News as a purveyor of "outrage porn."

Oh, the irony!

CNN "Primetime" host Abby Phillip wasted zero time on Thursday before launching into a hypocritical attack for the ages, blaming today's partisan political discourse and the “perilous condition" of democracy in America on Fox News.

Yes, really.

The following diatribe from Ms. Phillip not only brims with hypocritical irony; it also describes CNN (and its evil twin MSNBC) to a T.

Objectively American democracy is in perilous condition. The nation's politics are poisoned. Truth has become optional. Instead of desired or even required. The republic has, of course, always faced threats to it, even before Rupert Murdoch, but so much of the current state of our democracy can be traced back to the beast of his creation.

See what I mean?

The irony of CNN accusing any media outlet of manipulating — or ignoring — the truth is laughable at best. From the Biden Border Crisis to the devastation wreaked by Bidenomics to the Hunter Biden laptop scandal and beyond, CNN's left-wing Democrat sock puppets continually make a mockery of truth, not to mention journalism.

After Phillip's faux-dramatic opening statement, she introduced herself — and promptly went straight to the gutter.

Good evening everyone, I'm Abby Phillip, and Rupert Murdoch is stepping down as CEO of Fox News tonight. His legacy is outrage porn. Partisan red meat. Stoking relentless culture wars. But it all started with what you could argue is a noble vision to create a center-right news network to elevate more perspectives that aren't based in Gotham or in Washington.

With respect to the highlighted examples, CNN might not have invented them, but the outlet has perfected the hell out of them, and with a total lack of self-awareness to boot, as the network's ratings continue to swirl down the toilet like none other — other than Joe Biden's, that is.

Phillip then went full stand-up comic.

But instead, stoking division seemed to become Murdoch's mission. So did power and so did the money. Fox became a mouthpiece for Republican administrations, a mouthpiece really for Donald Trump and eventually a vehicle for his baseless conspiracies. Before we discuss this tonight, it’s important to illustrate just a small taste of this mission, 25 years in the making.

Oh, please.

CNN might as well have changed its name to ONNObama Network News — throughout the former president's tenure, as it slobberingly fawned over everything O said or did while fiercely flying wingman for the 44th president to the point of twisting itself into a hypocritical pretzel during those eight years.

Toss in CNN's herculean efforts to prop up declining Joe Biden, and there you the current state of the embattled network.

Phillip then aired a short montage of so-called "outrage porn" from Fox.

Meh. So here's the thing:

I've had more than my share of disagreements with various Fox News on-air personalities; I still do. And I've been in agreement with many of Fox's takes, as well. But CNN? Please. Like MSNBC, CNN is a one-trick Democrat pony (lapdog), and to claim otherwise is to blindly ignore reality.

Anyway, speaking of reality, and for your reading pleasure, of course, here's a montage of real outrage porn, courtesy of The Most Trusted Name in News™. Enjoy.

As I was finishing up this article, I was reminded of a question I get asked fairly regularly: "Which news outlet(s) do you watch?"  When I reply, "None of them," I often get a surprised follow-up question to the effect of "Then how do you know what to write about?"

Love that question. A lot.

My response is always the same: "I'm no more interested in watching Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham on Fox News than in watching Jake Tapper or Anderson Cooper on CNN."

The reason being, my opinions are my own. I have zero need or desire to hear what any of the aforementioned hosts or others think about an issue — one way or another.
