Democrat lawmakers, in between their efforts to scaremonger the bejesus out of American citizens by lying about virtually everything President Donald Trump says, does, or proposes, appear to believe performative stunts — most of them hilarious — are effective.
You know, the way the hippies of the late 1960s and early 70s did their thing — although it can be argued that they helped bring an end to the Vietnam War.
Anyway, in this latest example, left-wing Oregon Democrat Sen. Maxine Dexter joined a group Portland senior citizens in an attempt to scaremonger (lie) about Trump while singing a classic protest song.
What they hoped to accomplish — other than the performative theater part — is anyone's guess.
So, yeah, Dexter joined a group of seniors for a ukulele rendition of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land,” a folk classic long noted for its socialist messages and origins in leftist (communist) protest culture.
(More on the song in a bit.)
Dexter posted a video of the event on social media with the caption, “This land belongs to all of us. It’s not a war zone—it’s home. Trump can’t take that from us.”
Wait — did I miss something? I'm unaware of Trump's plans to take our land from us. On the contrary, that objective better fits in the milieu of socialists (read: Marxists) like New York City Democrat (Marxist) mayoral candidate Zohran Mandani, but I digress.
As part of the predictable presentation, senior citizens held aloft signs with absurd messages, such as “Support Ukraine and NATO,” “Defend Democracy,” and “No Kings.” Cute, huh? Bless their little naive hearts.
Here's more:
Dexter’s participation in the Portland event came amid heightened tensions in the city following President Donald Trump’s recent authorization of National Guard support to protect federal and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities from Antifa-linked riots.
Oregon officials have sued to block the deployments, while Texas has sent 400 of its own National Guard troops after a federal judge barred Trump from calling up Oregon’s forces.
Dexter ... made headlines in February when she shouted, “We have to f*** Trump!” during a rally on Capitol Hill organized by the American Federation of Government Employees to oppose the Trump administration’s efforts to shrink the federal workforce.
On Monday, Trump blasted Democrat leaders in Portland and Chicago for “wanting to inflame crime,” calling Portland a “burning hellhole."
So with no further ado, America, here's Sen. Maxine Dexter and her Portland senior-citizen buddies singing "This Land Is Your Land" (you might want to grab a tissue or two):
Totally effective. At what, only God knows.
Folksinger and songwriter Woody Guthrie wrote and sang "This Land Is Your Land" as a musical rebuttal to Irving Berlin's classic, “God Bless America,” in the early 1940's as a protest anthem in opposition to private property and in support of foundational collectivist (communist) tenets.
Guthrie also wrote for The Daily Worker — the official mouthpiece of the Communist Party of the United States of America (CPUSA) between 1924 and 1958 — and performed at various Communist Party events.
The lyrics (emphasis, mine):
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York island,
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters;
This land was made for you and me.
As I was walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway;
I saw below me that golden valley;
This land was made for you and me.
I've roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts;
And all around me a voice was sounding;
This land was made for you and me.
When the sun came shining, and I was strolling,
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling,
As the fog was lifting a voice was chanting:
This land was made for you and me.
As I went walking I saw a sign there,
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
But on the other side it didn't say nothing.
That side was made for you and me.
In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people,
By the relief office I seen my people;
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?
Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking that freedom highway;
Nobody living can ever make me turn back
This land was made for you and me.
Incidentally, as I wrote this article, I thought about the untold numbers of Americans who have gleefully sung "This Land Is Your Land" through the decades with nary a thought or question about its meaning.

Oh — just one more thing:
In April, Dexter joined fellow House Democrat comrades Robert Garcia, Maxwell Frost, and Yassamin Ansari on a trip to El Salvador to pressure President Nayib Bukele for the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia—an accused MS-13 gang member deported under Trump’s immigration policies. While there, Dexter accused Trump of “illegally abducting” the suspect, and ridiculous labeled the deportation yet another "constitutional crisis.”
I am in El Salvador because I will not stand by while our country is thrown into a constitutional crisis. This is a moment to act. I will not rest until due process is upheld for all.
Yeah, stuff a sock in it, Senator — it's way worn out and boring as you know what.
I'm sure Woody Guthrie would be proud of Maxine Dexter and her leftist Democrat comrades in Congress.
The question is, would Guthrie be too "mild" for today's radicalized Democrat Party? Yeah, I suspect they'd throw him under the bus in a hate-filled heartbeat, in favor of ever-more scaremongering nonsense.
Today's Democrat Party: It never gets old. Let's hope they continue as is.
Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
