Officials are now indicating it was a gas explosion that destroyed the first floor of the Chase Bank Building in Youngstown, Ohio, shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
Early reports showed images of significant damage to the lower floor of the structure.
Security footage from a building across the street shows the dramatic moment of the explosion.
At least seven people were injured and taken to an area hospital, with one listed in critical condition. Initial reports indicated that there were no fatalities, but according to WFMJ's Lindsay McCoy, the fire chief now says one man is missing.
Per WFMJ:
Chase Bank occupies the first floor of the building, but the 13-story building also houses numerous apartments.
In a statement given to 21 news, Angela Reighard, associate, regional communications at JPMorgan Chase says "We are in close contact with local officials to check on the safety of everyone in the Realty Building and area. After that, we'll work to determine what happened and to assess the damage."
The neighboring apartment building International Towers is being evacuated for safety.
This is a developing story. RedState will provide additional information as it becomes available.
