NextImg:Wait, What? Democrats Are Now Worried About a 'Partisan' US Attorney?

You've got to hand it to Democrats, they're consistent in their inconsistency. They always accuse their opponents of doing what they do themselves, to the point where one is tempted to think that they are like vampires - you can't see one in a mirror. In the latest case of Democrat "principals, not principles" we have the situation with Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, who has not yet been formally confirmed for his role, thanks to the actions of, you guessed it, Democrats. Why?

He's "too partisan." As Fox News' Matt Finn informs us, Mr. Essayli's interim period is expiring, at which point he takes on the "acting" part of the title.

The post concludes:

This is now a similar situation and mechanism to Alina Habba in Jersey.

The Los Angeles Times, a publication we can rely on utterly to take on every important issue of the day and get them all wrong, complained that as the US Attorney, Bill Essayli was "pushing the Trump agenda."

When Bill Essayli was appointed interim U.S. attorney for the Los Angeles region in April, many in the former state assemblyman’s Riverside County district were afraid the ambitious Republican lightning rod would be willing to attack a whole range of California policies to please the MAGA base.

They feared that, as the region’s most powerful federal prosecutor, Essayli would bow to the Trump administration and ramp up assaults on queer people, immigrants, voting rights, environmental protections and anyone or anything else that displeased President Trump.

There are no assaults on queer people. Ensuring fairness in sports through Title IX is not an "assault." There are no assaults on immigrants, only the rounding up and deporting of illegal aliens, who have no business being in the country. There are no assaults on voting rights; there is only the radical notion that one should have to prove they are who they claim to be before voting - something anyone has to do when cashing a check. There are no assaults on environmental protections, only the rolling back of harmful, expensive "green" energy boondoggles.

So why has Bill Essayli drawn the ire of the LA Times?

Now, it’s clear they were right to worry, said Jacob Daruvala, an LGBTQ+ advocate from the Inland Empire.

“Essayli is a very specific and terrible threat,” Daruvala said during a recent town hall for the “Stop Essayli” campaign, which is working to block the top prosecutor’s permanent appointment. “He has already shown multiple times that he is willing to use the office in a partisan manner.”

Nearly four months into Essayli’s tenure at the top of one of the nation’s busiest federal prosecutor’s offices, it is perhaps complaints about his partisanship that hound him most.

In the midst of a pitched culture war between the Trump administration and California — in which Essayli has participated in federal lawsuits challenging L.A.’s sanctuary policy, California’s protections for transgender athletes and more — his partisanship has become a central note in conversations about his leadership style, grasp of the law and understanding of the traditional role of U.S. attorneys.

Note the complete lack of specifics, other than Bill Essayli doing what he was bound to do, what any US Attorney would do - uphold the rule of law. LA's sanctuary policies, letting dudes play in women's sports, none of that is going to fly anymore. Yes, he's pushing the Trump agenda, which is to enforce immigration law, not allowing "sanctuary" jurisdictions to interfere with federal officers in the legal performance of their duties.

It's time that the Senate Majority Leader, Senator John Thune (R-SD), started hammering some of these nominations down the Democrats' throats. I hate to see a precedent created that may later be used against us, but maybe now it's time to take the gloves off. Democrats are good at one thing, and that's sticking together; it's doubtful that the GOP will be able to chisel away at their lockstep opposition.
