Former President Donald Trump keeps racking up the primary wins in his 2024 bid to return to the White House. He notched yet another one Thursday evening as he was declared the winner of the Virgin Islands primary, adding nine delegates to his collection.
Trump won a resounding share of the vote in the contest, winning 74 percent of the vote to former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley's 26 percent. VI was the first Republican primary to employ Ranked Choice Voting. A full report and analysis of the results can be found here. Trump celebrated the victory with a post on Truth Social:
Great news! As we are landing in Nevada, getting ready to go to Caucus, word just came that we overwhelmingly won the Virgin Islands Caucus, ALL Delegates, with almost 75% of the Vote. I have just called to thank those involved. They are celebrating, and having a great time - They deserve it! This has been a very Big Day for your Favorite President, the Republican Party, and Democracy!
As noted in the post, Trump is participating in the Nevada Caucus on Thursday evening, where he is also expected to win.
