The story of Jay Jones, who once served in the Virginia House of Delegates and is now the Democrat candidate to be the commonwealth's attorney general, gets more deranged by the day.
We told you a few days ago about his penchant for speeding—he was clocked going 116 MPH in a 70 MPH zone—and how he carried out a big chunk of his community service sentence for that infraction working for his own PAC. (Because being a Democrat means never really having to feel the full consequences of your actions.)
Now, we're hearing that Jones once fantasized about putting "two bullets to the head" of Republican Todd Gilbert, who was then the Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates. The folks over at NRO got their hands on some extremely disturbing text messages Jones sent to his former state house colleague, GOP House Delegate Carrie Coyner, that seemed to suggest Jones held an unreasonable, even dangerous, amount of anger towards Gilbert.
The unsettling texts from Jones to Coyner began following the death of a former Democrat state legislator; Jones was apparently incensed that Gilbert had the nerve to put out a condolence message for someone not in his own party. In the texts, which may have been sent to Coyner by mistake, Jones laid out his violent fantasy.

Coyner: It really bothers me when you talk about hurting people or wishing death on them

No matter who they are
That's not all. Earlier in the text exchange, which clearly made Coyner very uncomfortable, Jones said of two of his former Republican colleagues, "If those guys die before me, I will go to their funerals to piss on their graves” in order to “send them out awash in something.”
Who does this kind of thing? These are the words of a disturbed man-child who has no business holding office in Virginia or anywhere else. There's nothing funny about wishing death on your political opponents.

Jones put out a statement following the publication of the NRO story in which he blames Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, Jones' Republican opponent, of being the one who's been ratcheting up the violent rhetoric. (Oh, and Jones thinks NRO is a "Trump-controlled" media organization—he's really got his finger on the pulse of the modern media landscape.)
Jones is a world-class clown and the perfect encapsulation of the Democrat Party circa 2025: immature, violent, unserious, and unfit to hold power. In this time of heightened political tensions, Jay Jones has proven he can't be trusted with the safety, freedom, or future of Virginia.
