NextImg:‘Usually Not My Thing’: President Trump Cracks Up Sports All-Stars With Comment About NFL Player

President Donald Trump cracked up a group of sports all-stars with a comment about Kansas City Chiefs' star kicker Harrison Butker, calling him a "good-looking sucker."

It occurred during Trump's signing of an Executive Order on Thursday, which re-establishes the President's Council on Sports and reinstates the Presidential Fitness Test for children, introduced in 1966 and discontinued under former President Barack Obama's time in office.

At the signing, Trump was surrounded by Vice President J.D. Vance, Butker, Paul "Triple H" Levesque, U.S. Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau, Lawrence Taylor, and other professional sports players, who will be on the new council.

In a clip from our sister site Townhall.com, President Trump started to introduce Butker while he proceeded to look around for the Chiefs' kicker. When he found him, Butker flashed a smile and waved.

"You're a handsome guy, by the way," Trump replied. "I didn't...Usually not my thing, but he is a good-looking sucker!"

The comment cracked up those in the room, who could be heard laughing in the background.

Butker then took to the mic and talked about what an honor it was to be part of the council.

"Obviously, very excited to be here…Just excited to do my part to help make America healthy again — to help our youth be healthy and thrive and grow up and be great citizens of this country, be great family members ... I think you have to be strong in mind, in body, and soul," Harrison shared.

During the event, Trump also announced that they were officially restoring the Presidential Fitness Test and award for kids in public schools, which tests their health and athleticism.

"This is a wonderful tradition, and we're bringing it back," Trump said of the fitness test. "I was always a person that loved playing sports. I was good at sports. When you are really focused on sports, you've thought about nothing else.”

“To an extent, this is one of the reasons I like golf,” he added. “You get away for a couple of hours."

Trump then finished his remarks and signed the EO "PRESIDENT'S COUNCIL ON SPORTS, FITNESS, AND NUTRITION, AND THE REESTABLISHMENT OF THE PRESIDENTIAL FITNESS TEST."

It read:

As the United States prepares to celebrate its semiquincentennial anniversary in 2026, we must address the threat to the vitality and longevity of our country that is posed by America's declining health and physical fitness.

For far too long, the physical and mental health of the American people has been neglected.  Rates of obesity, chronic disease, inactivity, and poor nutrition are at crisis levels, particularly among our children.  These trends weaken our economy, military readiness, academic performance, and national morale.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower recognized this issue when he created the President's Council on Youth Fitness in response to reports on the poor state of youth fitness in America.  As President-elect, John F. Kennedy famously published an essay titled "The Soft American," which outlined the imperative for improved health in order to maintain a strong and vital America.

During my first term, I renamed the council the "President's Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition" and directed the development of a National Youth Sports Strategy, among other activities.

The EO is just another step toward Trump making good on those promises to Make America Healthy Again, and as a parent of three, I couldn’t be more for it.
