Over the weekend, there was disturbing news out of Nashua, New Hampshire, following a shooting at a country club that resulted in one man's death and injuries to several others.
Bonchie brought us the initial report on the incident on Saturday night, which included a witness report that the shooter shouted "Free Palestine" during the incident. That, of course, raised the specter of an ideological (i.e., anti-Israel/antisemitic) motive. On Sunday, we learned the identity of the suspected shooter — 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau — and that he had been charged with second-degree murder, with additional charges expected.

We now know a bit more about Nadeau, including the fact that he was formerly employed at the country club. Additionally, we have more details about his actions surrounding the incident, including confirmation that the victims of the shooting were a club employee and two club patrons, not guests attending the wedding reception being held at the club that evening.
Hunter Nadeau, 23, is a former employee of the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua and had not worked there for a year, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said.
At about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nadeau shot a person who works as a host at the country club near the bathrooms. Officials said the employee is at Massachusetts General Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Nadeau then opened fire in the country club's restaurant, Prime at Sky Meadow, where two patrons were shot. One of the patrons, 59-year-old Robert DeCesare, was killed. The medical status of the second patron was unknown as of Monday morning.
In addition to the three people who were shot, several others sustained injuries either from attempting to escape or subdue the shooter. According to one witness, someone attempted to subdue the shooter by striking him over the head with a chair.
Michael Homewood, a DJ who was working at the wedding, said someone struck Nadeau with a chair in an attempt to subdue him.
"He hit him over the head with a chair, and he probably saved a bunch of lives just doing that," Homewood said.
As for a potential motive, at this point, that remains unclear. There is no known connection between Nadeau and DeCesare, and law enforcement officials have stated they do not believe this was a targeted attack. They've also expressed skepticism that this was a hate crime, despite the statements Nadeau reportedly made during the attack.
A wedding guest said he heard Nadeau say: "The children are safe. ... Free Palestine," as he walked by, but authorities said there is no evidence the shooting was a hate crime and that they are still investigating a motive.
"He was making a lot of different statements and it appears to us that it's more likely that those statements were intended to create chaos during the event and that they don't really give us much of a sense of his motive," Formella said.
That isn't the end of the inquiry, of course, and RedState will continue to follow the story and provide updates as additional information becomes available.
