NextImg:Up Next: Trump Drops Name of New Blue City for Possible Law Enforcement Surge

President Donald Trump has made it clear he's done waiting for Democrat-run cities to crack down on their out-of-control crime and admitted the next place he's eyeing for a federal law enforcement surge is New Orleans or possibly New York.

Speaking to members of the press from the Oval Office during Polish President Karol Nawrocki's visit on Wednesday, Trump was asked about the 30-day federalization of local law enforcement in Washington, D.C., and said he's looking at several other places where he could send in the National Guard to get violent crime down.

Trump said he could definitely replicate the success he's had in D.C. by doing the same in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and more.

"So we're making a determination now," Trump said. "Do we go to Chicago, or do we go to a place like New Orleans, where we have a great Governor, Jeff Landry, who wants us to come in and straighten out a very nice section of this country that's become quite tough, quite bad."

"So, we are going to be going to, maybe, Louisiana," he added. "And you have New Orleans, which has a crime problem. We'll straighten that out in about two weeks. It'll take us two weeks. Easier than D.C."

"[Democrats] they are against preventing crime," Trump continued. "They are fighting us. I want to go into Chicago, and I have this incompetent governor [JB Pritzker] that doesn't want us…. In three weeks, almost 35 people were killed. It could've been stopped."

As my RedState colleague Bob Hoge reported, Trump vowed Tuesday that he's going to get things under control in places like Illinois and send the National Guard to quell violence in the murder-plagued city.

"We're going in [to Chicago]," the Republican president told reporters, while hinting that he would also send soldiers to Baltimore, another Democrat-run city.

"I have an obligation," he added, citing Chicago crime statistics. "This isn't a political thing. I have an obligation when 20 people are killed over the last two and a half weeks and 75 are shot with bullets."

As RedState reported, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson's ineptitude in leading was recently put on full display when he refused to answer the question about how to solve the crime problem in the Windy City; instead, he blamed crime on the lack of federal funds for housing.

During Johnson's appearance on "Morning Joe" with Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Johnson was asked by one of the hosts if an increase in law enforcement on the city's streets could help curb crime.

Instead of answering yes or no, Mayor Johnson did what leftists do and tried to get more money from the federal government for his pet social programs that will likely do nothing to stop the city from leading the country in homicides for the 13th year in a row.

After Trump hinted that Chicago could be next for the federal crime crackdown, Pritzker has remained defiant against having extra help from the federal government, deflecting from the horrible crime numbers, as my RedState colleague Sister Toldjah reported.
