I am not a fan of TSA. If there was some consistency in what every flier dealt with, I guess I would not be so bothered by the non-routine, routine, but it seems to be a crapshoot on what you are going to encounter.
I don’t belong to the million-mile club, but I fly a fair amount. When one flies commercial, one must pass through TSA. Sometimes you get friendly people. Sometimes you get people who seem to have an animus for human beings and human contact.
Sure, it seems to be a “thankless job,” but why then are some TSA employees friendly and others downright hostile? I was flying with my family, and that included my father-in-law. He is old. As in very old. He might be a threat to talk too much to complete strangers, but anyone who isn’t blind can see that he’s not a “threat.” He was pulled out of line and given an intrusive pat-down and frisk. The TSA guy patted all of his parts, and I mean all. He made my father-in-law open up his wallet, and then he went through his wallet. I was waiting for him about 15 feet away, and said loudly enough, "Why are you going through his wallet?" TSA guy ignored me, but handed the wallet back.

I Demand Airlines Make Passengers Take a 'Plane Etiquette' Test. Here's Why.
While in Buffalo, waiting at the gate for our already one-hour delayed flight, a portable TSA scanner was wheeled to the gate. It was for “training,” we were told. Who did they pat down and frisk? First, it was a woman in a wheelchair, and then some under-10 children. I said something to my wife that was, in fact, directed at the TSA clowns. My wife told me to pipe down, and if I didn’t shut my trap, I could “fly home alone.” You cannot really push back because TSA will make your life miserable. Why? Because they can. And that happened to Hall of Fame quarterback and NFL legend, Terry Bradshaw.
Prior to a recent flight, Bradshaw was targeted for TSA’s form of waterboarding.
At Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, as the 76-year-old Bradshaw was walking through security, he was selected for an extra diligent search.
This did not amuse Bradshaw, and the person he was traveling with was able to catch his displeasure on camera.
“I'm not against being safe but…This is ridiculous!!” Bradshaw said on a video posted to Facebook. “TSA approved, had the body pat down, all the luggage checked, unpacked item by item. Now going into private room for ANOTHER pat down.”
While Bradshaw was not happy with this decision by security, he was fully cooperative and even joked towards the camera as he walked with the guard.
Bradshaw was in Branson for “The Terry Bradshaw Show,” which is touring across the country this summer. His shows consist of Bradshaw telling stories and singing.
I first saw this on X. It’s hard to fathom why Bradshaw was “selected” for extra security. He’s an old man and a famous one at that. One person on X had the best response. Bradshaw had recently criticized Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The poster speculated that maybe the TSA goon was a Rodgers fan.
Although that’s funny, the problem with TSA is that there really are TSA “officers” who get it in their heads that they can act like jerks, just because they can. Unfortunately, too many do.
It would be nice if TSA were like airport security in Israel. Unless there are signs of a risk, I am pretty sure they don’t stop and harass old men or women in wheelchairs or children. I have a bad feeling that the next time I fly, I’m going to get the “Bradshaw” treatment.
Forget everything I just wrote. I love the Blueshirts of TSA!
