President Donald Trump's White House slammed the media for fake news about a possible divide between him and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard when it comes to Iran's nuclear capability.
In a statement on Friday posted on X by the official Rapid Response account, the White House hit back against speculation that the president and Gabbard were on opposite sides when it comes to Iran's nuclear ambitions.
"[Tulsi] Gabbard's testimony has consistently backed up President Trump's position — and shame on the media for trying to twist it and misrepresent the truth," the post read.
"FACT: @DNIGabbard has testified that Iran has produced levels of enriched uranium that is unprecedented for a nation without nuclear weapons," it added. "FACT: If Iran decides to finalize its assembly, the weapon would be weeks away from being operational."
Gabbard, the head of National Intelligence (DNI), also responded and made it clear there was no daylight between her and Trump on the Iran issue:
"The dishonest media is intentionally taking my testimony out of context and spreading fake news as a way to manufacture division," Gabbard's post on X read. "America has intelligence that Iran is at the point that it can produce a nuclear weapon within weeks to months if they decide to finalize the assembly."
"President Trump has been clear that can't happen, and I agree," she added, while including a clip of her full testimony in March on Iran's nuclear weapons program.
The White House and Gabbard's posts followed comments President Trump made on Friday during an impromptu press gathering on the tarmac in Morristown, New Jersey, where reporters asked him several questions about deciding on military action against Iran:
One reporter said, "What intelligence do you have that Iran is building a nuclear weapon? Your intelligence community has said they have no evidence that they are at this point?"
"Well, then, my intelligence community is wrong. Who in the intelligence community said that?" Trump asked, and the reporter named Gabbard.
"She's wrong," the president added.
The questions continued:
One reporter asked if the president was worried that either Iran or "its proxies would wage terrorist attacks against American targets abroad if you ordered military action?"
"We're always concerned about that, and we have to take them out and be very strong," Trump replied. "You're even in danger talking to me right now, do you know that?"
"You are in danger talking to me right now. So I should probably get out of here," he added. "But you guys are actually in danger. Can you believe it?"
RedState reported earlier on Friday on Trump's looming decision, and the leaks that have started to pressure him:
With Israel continuing to hit Iran's nuclear and military capacity, including its ballistic missile capabilities, the Islamist nation is getting more and more desperate. On Friday morning, the Iranian foreign minister took off from Turkey for Europe to meet with France, the United Kingdom, and Germany in what is an obvious attempt to push for a ceasefire that prolongs this issue for decades to come. Unfortunately, it's not just the perpetually weak Europeans who are looking to stop Israel from finishing the job, though.
According to a new report, "officials" are leaking U.S. intelligence reports claiming that the only way to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon is to allow them to preserve their ability to get a nuclear weapon. No, I'm not kidding.
Between the leaks and efforts to divide Trump and Gabbard, something is up.
