Donald Trump can get under the skin of progressives like no one else. He says something, they freak out and scream about the end of the world—rinse, lather, repeat.
Now he's really got them worked up with this post referencing the 1979 Francis Ford Coppola-directed classic, “Apocalypse Now”:
He harkened back to Robert Duvall's unforgettable line in the movie:
“‘I love the smell of deportations in the morning...’ Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR,” read the president’s post on Truth Social, appearing to reference the 1979 film “Apocalypse Now,” which depicts America’s war in Vietnam.
The post comes as the administration prepares to take major action in Chicago in the coming week:
The Trump administration is preparing to send at least 300 federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and other agencies to the Great Lakes Naval Base in North Chicago, Illinois. The mobilization is part of what officials describe as enhanced immigration enforcement operations slated to begin this weekend.
While National Guard units will not be deployed inside Chicago, other states are moving to reinforce federal operations.
Reportedly, dozens of Indiana National Guard members will soon be called up to assist immigration enforcement efforts across the state. About 50 members are expected to deploy by mid-September.
A state spokesperson said the troops will not conduct arrests or participate directly in enforcement. Instead, they will handle "administrative logistics and support tasks."
As the president has focused on combating crime in our nation’s inner cities, Democrat “leaders” like Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, California’s Gavin Newsom, and their ilk have all been up in arms, insisting that there’s no crime crisis and that federal intervention isn’t needed. Tell that to all the parents of the thousands of victims who are no longer alive.

Trump’s meme immediately drew the outrage of the usual suspects:
Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin also weighed in: “His tweet this morning was disgusting. To suggest that the troops are coming into Chicago or the Department of War is going to be engaged, it is embarrassing,” the senator said.
What’s embarrassing is how badly progressive Democrats’ policies have failed—every weekend, it’s a shooting gallery in Chicago, and virtually every Friday night in Los Angeles will feature street takeovers and looting. (I went to the Sherman Oaks Mall on Tuesday—only to find out the next day that four dudes with sledgehammers showed up and smashed a jewelry store to pieces. As always seems to be the case, no suspects were arrested.)
While Trump’s methods may be unorthodox, it’s also true that what most big city leaders are doing simply isn’t working. Cashless bail, soft-on-crime prosecutors, and a revolving door at the jailhouse mean we see similar headlines to this every day: "Career Criminal Out on Bail Accused of..." yet another violent crime.
Meanwhile, they cry that the sky is falling whenever he opens his mouth, and their hysterics have caused them to lose what little credibility they had.
Trump certainly gets under their skin with his provocative posts, but the truth is, they more than deserve it.
