President Donald Trump weighed in on Senator Adam Schiff's alleged mortgage fraud troubles late Sunday evening, claiming the Democrat is in "big trouble" and demanding he face prison time for his actions.

Schiff is under scrutiny following a criminal referral sent by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in May.

The referral alleges that Schiff misrepresented his primary residence on mortgage documents for a Potomac, Maryland property between 2003 and 2019 to secure more favorable loan terms. A Fannie Mae memo concluded that Schiff engaged in a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation in "multiple instances."

While the memo did not explicitly confirm fraud, Trump has drawn a different conclusion.

"Adam 'Shifty' Schiff is in BIG TROUBLE! He falsified Loan Documents," the President wrote on his Truth Social media platform.

Trump noted that Schiff, who was a major player in the Russia collusion hoax and the President's first impeachment trial, also made claims in 2019 that his son, Donald Trump Jr., should face prison time over claims he had perjured himself.

"It was an American Tragedy!" Trump concluded. "Now Shifty should pay the price of prison for a real crime, not one made up by the corrupt accusers!"

Awful Schiffty: Trump Raises Questions About Adam Schiff and Mortgage Fraud

Schiff has denied the allegations, calling them "baseless" and politically motivated, suggesting they are retaliation by a longtime political adversary. As of now, the DOJ has not confirmed whether it is pursuing a formal investigation or charges.

"Since I led his first impeachment, Trump has repeatedly called for me to be arrested for treason," Schiff wrote on X last week. "So in a way, I guess this is a bit of a letdown. And this baseless attempt at political retribution won't stop me from holding him accountable."

RedState reported on Schiff's apparent discrepancies regarding his mortgage loans back in November 2023. The controversy resurfaced last week when Trump accused the Senator of misrepresenting the home he used as his primary residence and stating he had engaged in a "sustained pattern of possible mortgage fraud."

The allegations stem from Schiff listing both a Maryland and a California property as primary residences, which could secure lower mortgage rates. As RedState's Bonchie reports, the situation becomes further embroiled in controversy when you realize that had Schiff actually maintained primary residence in Maryland, he wouldn't have been eligible to hold various elected offices in California.

Bonchie also covered a "smoking gun" video, which shows him unequivocally stating he has never maintained a primary residence other than the one he has in the Golden State.

Will Schiff's alleged actions lead to a Justice Department investigation and eventual charges? That remains to be seen. But it's clear that President Trump is seeking some action against Schiff.
