For the better part of a decade, the left's primary mission has been to "get Trump." Since he came down the escalator in Trump Tower in 2015, the mission has not just been to destroy him politically, but to destroy his family, his business, and his life. His supporters have watched in amazement as he has beaten impeachments, indictments, and assassination attempts. I have likened Trump and the left to Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner several times. Just when the left thinks "This time we really got him," they really don't. Their latest attempt is no different.
"We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy."
On Friday, the Nobel Peace Prize Committee announced the 2025 winner. She is Maria Corina Machado, an opposition leader to Venezuelan authoritarian ultra-leftist President Nicolás Maduro. The Nobel Committee said in a statement that they had based their decision on Machado's:
“tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”

In a phone call to Committee Secretary Kristian Berg Harpviken, Machado stated,
"Oh my God ... I have no words. I thank you so much, but I hope you understand this is a movement, this is an achievement of a whole society. I am just one person. I certainly do not deserve it."
As my colleague Ward Clark reported, there was much speculation and pressure leveled at the committee by Trump himself and his supporters that he was more than worthy of the award. Trump's ending of seven wars around the world, and his most recent monumental accomplishment of brokering a cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas, ending that two-year conflict, and the release of the remaining hostages made him a worthy candidate for it. But all of that was apparently not enough, in the committee's infinite wisdom, to earn Trump a prize that former President Barack Obama received in 2009 for breathing.
This may have been the Nobel Committee's chance to engage in a bit of political smugness, but it was Machado's following statement that no doubt brought that to an end. In yet another instance of Wile E. Coyote, a.k.a., the Nobel Committee and the worldwide left in general, getting a boulder in the face, Machado dedicated her award to...President Donald Trump.
"I dedicate the prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!"
A few things. First of all, the Nobel Peace Prize Committee consists of a bunch of leftist Euro-weenies, who no one had ever heard of, who would have never awarded Trump the prize. And second, while social media is not always a bastion of wisdom, the question has been asked: Why do we even pay attention to it anymore? Besides Obama, who had been in office for only eight months, the award has gone to such "deserving" awardees as Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung slammed the committee, saying, “The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace,” and added on social media that Trump would “continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives.”
Congratulations to Maria Corina Machado for her bravery and dedication to the people of her country. But in classic cartoon fashion, the left keeps trying to stick it to Trump, and he keeps coming out on top. Will they ever figure out that we are having a ball watching them fail? I sure hope not because it is so much fun.
Editor's Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
