As I write this, President Donald Trump and Department of Justice Attorney General Pam Bondi have arrived at the DOJ for a presser where among the topics discussed were the disgraceful weaponization of the department under his predecessor, Joe Biden, and how that was all about to change in the Golden Age.
But before it even started, one of the most powerful moments we've seen to date since Trump was sworn into office took place.
It occurred as both Trump and Bondi were walking into the lobby of the DOJ.
After they exited the hallway, Bondi informed the president that there was something she wanted to show him. He turned to look up and saw his portrait, with what appeared to be the official Trump 47 White House image, hanging above the entranceway.
Trump seemed genuinely surprised, saying "oh wow!" before joking that it was a "rough picture" of him. They talked for a few seconds more before heading to the press room.
Watch:
The clip in some ways reminded me of the one from Trump's inauguration, where Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh swore in Vice President JD Vance as then-Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost the 2024 election and who tried to prevent Kavanaugh from getting confirmed to the SCOTUS, looked on.
Here's an image from that moment:
