A Texas State University student is no longer part of the college after he was identified as the person behind a public, grotesque reenactment of the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
On Tuesday, Texas State University President Dr. Kelly Damphousse released an initial letter that made it clear she and the school were aware of a video online showing one of their students on their San Marcos campus mocking Kirk's murder and appearing to celebrate it.

The first letter read:
"I am aware of the disturbing video that was taken at an event on our San Marcos campus on Monday. I have directed university officials to take immediate steps to identify the individual in the video. Behavior that trivializes or promotes violence is reprehensible and violates the values of TXST. It will not be tolerated. If this individual is found to be affiliated with TXST, appropriate action will be taken. Let me be clear: expressions that glorify violence or murder have no place on our campuses."
By the end of the day on Tuesday, Damphousse released a second letter sharing that the student in the video had been identified and that person was no longer part of Texas State University.
"This is a follow-up to the message I sent earlier today," the letter read. "The university has identified the student in the disturbing video from Monday's event. I will not tolerate behavior that mocks, trivializes, or promotes violence on our campuses."
"It is antithetical to our TXST values," the letter added. "The individual is no longer a student at TXST. Federal law prevents the university from commenting further on individual student conduct matters."
"Unfortunately, some people are suggesting that the individual's actions represent the beliefs of TXST students in general or those of specific student organizations," the letter continued. "These kinds of insinuations are unfair to our student body, and they cause some of our students to feel unsafe. Just as the behavior in the video was reprehensible, attempts to spread the blame onto innocent students are also unacceptable. The actions of one person do not reflect our entire community or the individuals in it."
The comments came in response to a video of a Texas State University student in some kind of quad location reacting to Kirk's murder. In the video, we can see some students carrying American flags with signs that said "Nobody should be killed for their opinions" in support of Kirk, and another that had "Jesus" on it.
The student is also surrounded by other college kids who can be heard laughing at his actions.
Warning: The video is vile as this student slaps his neck and says, "Charlie Kirk got hit in the neck [...]." He then proceeds to act out as if he were shot in the neck by shaking and convulsing.
Unfortunately, he wasn't done yet. Because of the response by those around him, he continued, getting through the crowd to position himself on a higher platform to allow for his disgusting actions to be seen by more students, while doing the reenactment once more, pretending to have been shot in the neck, and falling to the ground.
He walked away, appearing to fear no consequences, as someone in the crowd told him he was going to get expelled, which is exactly what happened.
As my RedState colleague Nicka Arama reported, a Texas Tech student, Camryn Booker, recently found out that her college didn't take kindly to a video showing her dancing and celebrating Kirk's murder at a public vigil for him, because she's no longer enrolled at the university.
Arama wrote:
Texas Tech additionally confirmed on Monday that Booker was no longer enrolled at the university, Fox affiliate, FOX 4 News reported.
"Any behavior that denigrates victims of violence is reprehensible, has no place on our campus, and is not aligned with our values," Texas Tech University said in a statement. "Federal law prevents Texas Tech University from commenting on individual student conduct matters. We take all reported violations seriously and address them under university policy and the law."

Obviously, the response to both students is good. But this is insane. We are in a dangerous place when people are celebrating murder.
