First Lady Melania Trump's attorney dropped a letter threatening a $1 billion lawsuit against Hunter Biden for comments he made claiming that Jeffrey Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump.
Biden made those claims during an interview with YouTuber Andrew Callaghan.
The First Lady was not standing for that claim. Her attorney called it false and defamatory, and demanded that Hunter retract the comments and apologize.
“Failure to comply will leave Mrs. Trump with no choice but to pursue any and all legal rights and remedies available to her to recover the overwhelming financial and reputational harm that you have caused her to suffer,” the first lady’s attorney Alejandro Brito wrote in an Aug. 6 demand letter, Fox News reported.
"If you do not comply with the above by August 7, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. EST, Mrs. Trump will be left with no alternative but to enforce her legal and equitable rights, all of which are expressly reserved and are not waived, including by filing legal action for over $1 Billion Dollars in damages."
They made similar demands of The Daily Beast and James Carville for making similar comments. The Daily Beast and Carville retracted the comments and apologized.

But it looks like "the smartest man Joe Biden knows" isn't making a very smart decision in terms of his response to the notice, which was profane.
Warning for graphic language:
"F**k that," he said. "That's not going to happen."
This is Joe Biden's son. The arrogance there, the profanity - he seems to think he can't be touched or that they wouldn't pursue the action. He should be wising up like The Daily Beast and Carville did. They realized they would have a problem. But he's Hunter Biden, so smart moves are a bit foreign to him, as his life decisions have shown. President Donald Trump has sued people for years, and I think Melania isn't going to be shy about taking action if Hunter thinks she wouldn't pull the trigger against him.
The Trumps have long stated they met through modeling agent Paolo Zampolli at a New York Fashion Week party in 1998. This version contradicts Biden's claim and has been consistently repeated by the couple.
The problem for Hunter? His father, Joe Biden, is no longer in power. Hunter can't get a pardon for his comments from his father, and it would, in any event, be a civil action. Hunter has also trashed some of the Democratic establishment in a prior interview with Callaghan over the way they treated his father, so he painted himself into a corner there and didn't help himself with them.

Additionally, Hunter already claimed in court that he was having financial difficulties. So yes, please, buy yourself a little more trouble, we'll pull out the popcorn and enjoy it.
