We're pretty much off to the races for the 2026 midterms, and those elections are going to be crucial to keeping up the remarkable momentum we have seen since January 20th, 2025. A big part of that will involve the GOP hanging on to control in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Which brings us to Kentucky. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has chosen not to run, and this presumably safe Republican seat is open. One candidate, Kentucky businessman Nate Morris, has announced for the seat, and on Thursday, we learned that he has picked up the key endorsement of Senator Jim Banks (R-IN). An email from the Morris campaign states:
LEXINGTON, KY - Sen. Jim Banks (R-IN) today endorsed successful entrepreneur and America First conservative Nate Morris for U.S. Senate. Sen. Banks offered the following comment:
“I’m proud to endorse Nate Morris for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky. Our families come from the same place and share the same working-class roots. Nate understands, just like I do, that America is the greatest country in the world and always worth fighting for,” said Banks, “Nate is the America First fighter we need in the Senate. President Trump needs more allies in the Senate, and Nate Morris will never let him or Kentucky down. This is no time for squishy Republicans. Join me in supporting Nate Morris for Senate.”
In response, Nate Morris offered the following comment:
“I’m incredibly honored to have the support of one of President Trump’s most staunch allies and one of the fiercest opponents of amnesty in the U.S. Senate. I look forward to working with Sen. Banks to continue fighting for President Trump’s America First Agenda and delivering real wins for America’s working class who have been ignored by career politicians for far too long,” said Morris.
Nate Morris is the Chairman and CEO of Lexington, Kentucky's Morris Industries. He also founded the company Rubicon Technologies and later served as CEO of that company. He is, reportedly, a personal friend and supporter of Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and was encouraged in his Senate ambitions by Vice President JD Vance.
Mr. Morris has already appeared to announce his candidacy on Donald Trump Jr.'s podcast:
And he has gained the endorsement of Turning Point, USA:
Kentucky's Senate seat, we should note, should be a safe GOP hold.

Mr. Morris is running to replace Senator McConnell, as we noted above. We should note that Mitch McConnell was great in his day; in fact, he was for a long time one of the better political knife-fighters in the business. The United States and the American people owe him a great debt for one thing: That Merrick Garland is not on the Supreme Court. But Senator McConnell is retiring, and it's time for some new, motivated, conservative blood in the Senate.
