They don't feel the American people's pain — not really. More like disdain, it seems.
The Senate Democrats voted to continue the Schumer Shutdown on Friday afternoon, as the clean continuing resolution (CR) — H.R. 5371 — was again called up for a vote, and none of the Democrats thought better of going into the weekend with the federal government's lapse in appropriations ongoing.
The vote total this time was a little different from the previous 55-45, not because anyone changed their position, but because neither Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) nor Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) cast a vote this time.
The Democrats who had previously crossed the aisle to support the measure (John Fetterman (PA), Catherine Cortez-Masto (NV), and Angus King (ME)) again voted in favor of it, and Republican Sen. Rand Paul (KY) again opposed it.
Schumer Shutdown Is on Its Way After Latest Senate Vote
Ahead of the vote, Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) again addressed the Senate, noting, "We could be considering bipartisan appropriations bills through regular order, but instead we are stuck in a shutdown mess of Democrats’ making. And the American people are suffering as a result."
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
