NextImg:Schiff Throws a Fit As Bondi Fires People at DOJ - His Statement About Ethics Is Something Else

At the end of last week, Attorney General Pam Bondi fired some people at the Department of Justice. Varying sources had varying numbers.

At least nine DOJ workers were terminated by Bondi on Friday, The New York Times reported, while other outlets including Axios and The Washington Post reported that 20 employees were cut, including U.S. marshals, support staff and lawyers.

Yahoo reported that some of the people were connected to Special Counsel Jack Smith's probe.

According to Axios, the employees ousted on Friday "were identified during an internal investigation carried out by the 'Weaponization Working Group'" that had been formed by Bondi.

The Director of the Departmental Ethics Office, Joseph Tirrell, has also been fired, according to the report.

Why he was fired wasn't specified in the report. But it did observe the following.

Tirrell advised Special Counsel Jack Smith on ethical considerations during his criminal prosecutions of President Trump, according to Bloomberg Law.

  • That included approving approximately $140,000 in pro bono legal assistance from Covington & Burling law firm, which Smith disclosed after conducting his investigation into the president.

So it sounds like Bondi is trying to put the Department of Justice in order.

Naturally, the media and Democrats tried to spin it. However, the winner of the award for gall has to be Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) with this comment.

"Firing everyone who could tell you what you're doing is unethical or illegal does not make what you're doing ethical or legal," Schiff posted.

Wait, isn't this the same guy who told us he had evidence of Russia collusion? Didn't he get censured by his colleagues when he was in the House?

That sounds a lot like his effort to smear President Donald Trump, suggesting something while producing nothing to support his claim.

Furthermore, the article headline terming Tirrell Bondi's "personal ethics chief" is certainly an odd construct for the head of the ethics department at the DOJ. He would weigh in on others, not just her. That headline is from Bloomberg. There was no indication in the Bloomberg report that the firing related to any questions about her.

As my colleague Susie Moore reported, Schiff may have some more issues to worry about, according to Trump's Truth Social post. Then there are the questions about the autopen pardons. Is he feeling nervous about that? He may want to be checking his own house, rather than trying to go after Bondi.

In any event, Schiff is the last guy who can talk about the ethics of anyone else. People on X weren't shy about letting him know that.
