By Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ)
President Trump was given a mandate by American voters, not because he minced his words, but because he's a straight shooter.
A social media video making the rounds shows a couple of brainiacs who decided to break the mold when towing their car. Instead of the tried-and-true way of towing with the front of the car facing the same way as the towing vehicle, they decided to chain their car so that the front of the car faced backward.
You can almost hear the conversation.
“Ugh, I know that everyone else does it so both the tower and the towee are facing forward, but I think everyone is wrong. Don’t you?”
“Uh, yep. We should do it bassackwards. That way, when you’re sitting in the car, you can face the traffic behind us. You know, the cars coming up and going the same way.”
“Yeahya. That way I can honk at ‘em if they get too close!”
And with that type of analysis, the duo chained up their car and started down the road. In fact, they entered the highway. Of course, the towed car started veering back and forth, causing a hazard for all of the other traffic.
Tickets and fines ensued.
“Didn’t see that coming.”
Similarly, Washington, D.C. continues to hitch up the car the wrong way round.
The Big, Beautiful Bill has a sound tax package, but gets turned around in managing our massive national deficit. In fact, it will increase our deficit in the first years of the reconciliation bill, with the hope of reducing our deficit in the last years of the ten-year cycle.

House Republicans Release Portions of Trump's Desired 'Big, Beautiful Bill'—Here's What We Know
For instance, the bill fails to eliminate the Inflation Reduction Act, commonly known as the Green New Deal. You will recall this was a Republican Party platform plank and was featured as a component of President Trump’s agenda. The package essentially cements in some of that nonproductive spending.
The Republican plan goes beyond President Trump’s program and actually secures all Americans on Obamacare. The Medicaid expansion is the Obamacare expansion. It features the fastest-growing spending program in American government. We subsidize able-bodied adults at more than double the amount that we pay for disabled, seniors, pregnant women, and children for healthcare. A simple work requirement for those who are able-bodied would save us hundreds of billions of dollars.
Guess what else. The ten or so states that never opted into the Obamacare expansion will be incentivized to join the expansion at a cost of over $1 trillion over the ten-year period. And it will move America ever closer to the desire of Leftists to make our healthcare structure a single-payer system; a closed socialist system.
One more issue to consider is the expansion of the state and local tax exemption (SALT) that requires 40-plus states to subsidize blue states that have high SALT. Pre-Big, Beautiful Bill, there was an exemption capped at taxes paid up to $10,000. The BBB tripled that to $30,000. The cost to the American people is more than $250 billion over ten years. But some of the Republicans in the House are demanding that the BBB amount be doubled to more than $60,000 per SALT payer.
President Trump didn’t win by moderating his tone but by telling it like it is.
The BBB extends the tax reductions in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and that must happen. In fact, it could have and should have already happened. But the warts on this bill have us looking backward and weaving all over the road.
