Charlie Kirk's pal and executive producer, Andrew Kolvet, confirmed a report that it was Utah Valley University's sole responsibility to make sure the roofline was secure and failed to do so when Kirk was killed by an assassin's bullet on September 10 on the campus in Orem, Utah.
In a post on Friday on X, the producer of "The Charlie Kirk Show" podcast reposted a video from Pastor John K. Amanchukwu Sr., sharing with everyone how the university rejected a request by Turning Point USA to allow them to secure the rooftops, amid wild speculation online that it was Kirk's team that failed.

"Who was responsible for securing the rooftops when Charlie Kirk was shot?" the pastor wrote. "Did his security team fail, or were they told to stand down, because police would secure the rooftops and the perimeters. Did Charlie Kirk's security have drones?"
In the video, the pastor answers those questions and more, stating that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, this tragedy could've been prevented.
"People are saying that Charlie Kirk's security detail failed him immensely because they didn't secure the rooftop where the shooter assassinated Charlie Kirk," Amanchukwu said. "Let's address this head-on. Most people don't know this, but when you go to a college campus, you have to work in concert and in synergy with campus police."
"Campus police rejected Turning Point USA's request from their security detail to have their drones be used and to secure the rooftops," he added. "The college said that they would take care of that responsibility. So, therefore Charlie Kirk's security detail stood down because they expected campus police to do their job."
"Now, the one million dollar question is, did they do their job?" the pastor continued. "No, they didn't. And so for all of the people out there now saying 'oh, yeah, they should've had a drone and they should've secured the rooftops and how could they just be so dumb…' They tried to secure the rooftop. They put in their request to do so. They attempted to do everything to protect Charlie Kirk."

The pastor then went on to mock people online who have tried to lay blame for Kirk's assassination at the feet of TPUSA and his security, and pointed out why nothing could be further from the truth.
"These conspiracy theories are deleterious towards good men and women who have given their lives to work alongside Charlie Kirk and TPUSA.
Hearing this report from the pastor and then receiving confirmation from Kirk's friend is truly heartbreaking, learning that this tragedy could've been avoided.
I know it has only been a few weeks, and everyone is still reeling from it. But it might truly be time to turn the spotlight on Utah Valley University and start asking the school some hard questions that we need answers to.
Nothing can bring back one of the biggest voices in the Conservative and faith movement. But someone has some explaining to do. Clearly, something went terribly wrong here.
