Yeah, so just when you thought wokeism — including the insanity of DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) — was on life support in the Second Age of Trump, an Iowa mother is allegedly being targeted after speaking out at a school board meeting about a "graphic" Black Lives Matter (BLM) film being shown to her 12-year-old son without her consent.
Elayne Casalins, a recently naturalized citizen from the Dominican Republic, exclusively told the Daily Caller that her son was shown a graphic PG-13 movie without parental notification or consent in violation of Iowa state law, and then subjected to classroom discussions (indoctrination, no doubt) about BLM and police brutality.
When Casalins shared her concerns about the incident(s), with the Belmond-Klemme Community School District school board, she was slapped with a cease-and-desist letter, accused of defamation, and threatened with a lawsuit.
The mother said in a press release from the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL), which is representing her:
As a new American citizen, I have constitutional rights that make this nation the envy of the world. There is no better place to live your life and raise a family, and we moved to Iowa to live in a state that upholds these fundamental American values.
I was shocked to receive such a threatening letter from a law firm representing a public employee, my son’s teacher. But I will continue to tell my story and speak out for my son and the rights of parents across the country.
While there are generally at least two sides to every story, given the oodles of times we've seen reports similar to this one, my gut tells me to go all in on the mother's side, in terms of how the whole thing played out.

The movie Casalins objected to, “Till,” contains graphic depictions of the murder of Emmett Till, a black boy who was lynched in Mississippi in 1955. Along with classroom discussions “focused on Black Lives Matter, racism, and police brutality,” Casalins’ son and classmates were also allegedly shown a video of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by Alicia Keys and were told “everyone in the video was a victim of racism."
Casalins told Daily Caller she tried to talk to her son's teacher about her concerns, which she said were dismissed by the teacher, who also denied holding classroom discussions about BLM. Casalins said she then raised the issue with the Belmond-Klemme Community School District (BKCSD) Board of Education.
Shortly after, Casalins received a cease-and-desist letter from an attorney representing her son’s teacher, claiming that her statements during the June board meeting constituted “defamation per se,” as per the letter obtained by Daily Caller. Casalins insists she never mentioned the teacher’s name at the meeting.
“I was really scared,” Casalins told Daily Caller, describing her reaction to the letter:
I didn’t know what to do. I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to lose my house, my family.’ I also felt like I’d never speak out again.
Fear and intimidation — nobody does it like the radical left.
WILL sent a letter in response to the teacher’s attorney on Tuesday, saying “Mrs. Casalins will not be intimidated,” while also rejecting claims and demands made by the teacher’s legal counsel.
“Mrs. Casalins will continue to exercise her parental rights and continue to protect her children by seeking to have the objectionable instructional materials and curricula withdrawn,” reads WILL's letter.

Untold numbers of public school districts across America, in concert with powerful left-wing teachers unions, and often under the auspices of the no-longer hallowed halls of academia, will continue to try their damnedest to indoctrinate America's kids at every opportunity.
Moreover, as we saw in this case, when caught, they often resort to lies and denial, while predictably trying to turn the tables and make parents and their kids the bad guys.
