Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) appeared on CNN on Monday to bloviate against President Donald Trump's move to take over law enforcement in Washington, D.C., and deploy the National Guard to help out.
What was funny was that Raskin stepped into the trap of arguing that crime in DC wasn't an "emergency," a ridiculous argument with the sole purpose of opposing Trump. I'm sure that will be received well by the frustrated citizens of DC:
Raskin ought to check with the residents - I think he'd find many who would disagree with him. The DC Police Union took note: - they support and were grateful for Trump's move. They don't like how things were being done before.
However, the situation is different because deployment to the Capitol differs from deployment in DC. As we've reported in the past, the Trump team reached out to the Capitol Police to ask if they wanted the Guard. As Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund explained, he turned it down before Jan. 6 because he didn't have permission from the Congressional Sergeants at Arms. He called out Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Monday when she made the same kind of attack Raskin did on Trump. So this is just gaslighting.
All Democrats can do is talk about J6, they keep deflecting from the real, present issues and their fault in the problems.

But this question from Raskin to CNN's Kasie Hunt is truly funny: Who do you trust to fix it, President Donald Trump or the people who run D.C.?
Is he kidding? Does he not think before he speaks? Open mouth, insert foot.
The people who run DC? The folks who haven't solved the problem? The folks who have let it fester for years? That should answer the question right there. The local politicians made the problems worse. Even the Police Union called out the "radical policies" that need to be changed.
Who do you trust in this situation to truly address the problem? It's Trump, all day, every day, the guy who gets things done, the guy who finally fixed the border after Joe Biden made things worse, the guy who's bringing peace to numerous countries, who may finally be able to bring something better to DC.

It's not even a difficult question. People on X had some laughs at how humorously clueless Raskin was about what he asked.
