College Republicans across the country issued a warning to their universities that enough is enough of trying to silence them following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
After Kirk was murdered on Wednesday by an assassin's bullet while he was speaking with college kids at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, many have said that attempts to silence his message have failed, because now those who embraced Kirk's views and defense of open exchange of ideas with those who disagree are only going to get louder.

On Wednesday, Republican college students sent an open letter to Boston University President Gilliam regarding Kirk's assassination.
Here's part of what the letter shared:
At BU, conservative students have long been marginalized, silenced by fear of social intimidation, academic penalty, or hostility. Many of our members feel they cannot openly affiliate with the College Republicans, and those who do are often met with slurs and false labels. Rather than fostering intellectual diversity, the university has allowed a single ideological perspective to dominate, leaving students of differing opinions isolated.
The celebration of Mr. Kirk's death on platforms like YikYak and Reddit, including by individuals within the BU community, reveals how dangerous this environment has become. Calls to violence against those with different views are not only hateful but intolerable in a university setting. The lack of institutional response emboldens such rhetoric and erodes trust in BU's commitment to protecting all students.
Next, they want the following:
- Hold accountable those who incite or glorify violence.
- Safeguard classrooms as spaces for genuine debate, not indoctrination.
- Provide appropriate security for College Republicans events.
It closed with a quote from Fox News' Greg Gutfeld, who said after Kirk's murder, "It's really hard to radicalize Republicans. We're not the radical type. But if you thought that you were going to shut a movement down, you're in for a rude awakening."

Republican students at Notre Dame College had a similar sentiment, adding that the violence being perpetrated is not a "both sides" issue, but one that's coming from the left.
"There is no attributing these recent horrors to 'both sides.' Facilitated by Democrats and perpetrated by their radical Left, this terrorism is deliberately aimed against White people, Christians, and conservatives," the Executive Board statement read. "The Notre Dame College Republicans call for immediate action to restore order to our streets, including but not limited to the invocation of the Insurrection Act of 1807 to maintain an indefinite federal law enforcement presence, RICO Act investigations against left-wing NGOs, and the prohibition of firearm purchases for transsexuals."
Arizona State University College Republicans, in Charlie's home state of Arizona, also issued a statement from ASUGOP President Troy Holderby following the murder, pointing out that the left's propaganda war against conservatives is out of control.
"The event yesterday is the consequences of the polarization spurred by the Left. The ardent propaganda that conservatives are Fascists, Nazis, Bigots,- Phobics, etc have convinced half the country conservatives are monsters," it read, in part.
"They want us silenced," the statement continued. "And it has never been more important to speak loudly and proudly about what we believe in. Charlie may be gone, and in a better place, but here on earth we will continue fighting."
As my RedState colleague Jim Thompson reported, free speech on college campuses is under attack, and the killing of Kirk is another reason we must never let them win.
He wrote about the findings in the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) 2026 report.
On campuses across America, students are allowed to speak, but only if their words conform to leftist ideology.
Students have been radicalized. Apparently, they no longer want to shout someone off their campus; now some of them believe murder is justified. When their "leaders" call us Nazis and fascists, students on college campuses will think that they are the French Resistance, and the end result will be the death of Charlie Kirk.
