The Department of Homeland Security announced on social media Tuesday that the Coast Guard had made a drug boat go boom, and that they had seized 13,000 pounds of illegal drugs and apprehended seven alleged smugglers.

The action comes as part of Operation Pacific Viper, which the Coast Guard described on their website in late August:

…Operation Pacific Viper [is] a historic partnership between the Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy that is surging forces to the Eastern Pacific to cut off drugs and human smuggling before they ever reach American shores. As part of this operation, the Coast Guard conducted 19 interdictions in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. They are defending the Homeland with overwhelming force.

It’s the second purported drug boat the administration has made disappear in recent weeks. As we’ve reported, the U.S. military took out a Tren de Aragua smuggling craft off the coast of Venezuela earlier this month and neutralized 11 suspected Tren de Aragua narco-terrorists. It’s all part of President Trump’s increasingly aggressive posture in the war on drugs.

The Coast Guard has made numerous busts since the advent of Viper:

Alongside partners and allies, our maritime fighting force is surging to the Eastern Pacific, disrupting cartels, and keeping illicit drugs out of American communities. We are bringing every capability to bear to secure U.S. borders and maritime approaches.

This is where defense of America begins.

One interesting thing to note about DHS’s tweet at the top of this story: they start with “ASMR: @USCG captures, burns, and sinks a drug boat.” What is "ASMR," I thought to myself. You may already have heard about it, but it evidently stands for:

…Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, which describes a tingling, static-like, or goosebumps sensation in response to specific triggering audio or visual stimuli.

It comprises a range of sensory experiences that trigger a pleasurable sensation in the body, often described as a tingling or relaxing sensation. These sensations spread across the skull or down the back of the neck and, for some, down the spine or limbs.

In other words, it would seem to be an epic troll by DHS.

Frankly, I have no idea what the price of cocaine is—but I’m going to take a wild guess that it’s about to go way up. These hits have to be taking a toll on the cartels. We’ve been talking about the war on drugs for years in this country, but now the administration is backing that up with real firepower.

Judge James Boasberg is likely ironing his robe and sharpening his pencils, ready to jump in with a temporary restraining order or two.
