NextImg:Oh My: Biden's Handlers Might Want to Rein Him in After What He Said About 'Original Sin' Authors

Over the last several weeks, we've documented the fresh revelations that have come from the recently released book "Original Sin," which documented the extent of the Biden-Harris White House's cover-up of then-President Joe Biden's decline.

Among the things we learned was that there were aides who floated the possibility of Biden needing to use a wheelchair for the last year and a half he was in office. But that was frowned upon because they felt it would prove Donald Trump's points about Biden.

Perhaps most disturbingly, some close to Biden were quoted as suggesting they just needed to get him over the finish line in 2024, while unelected members of the administration could do the governing behind the scenes.

"He just had to win, and then he could disappear for four years. He’d only have to show proof of life every once in a while. His aides could pick up the slack," one longtime Biden aide reportedly told the authors, CNN's Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson.

In an informal press gaggle conducted after the belated Memorial Day speech Biden gave on Friday in his home state of Delaware, the former president was asked about some of the claims made in the book about his physical and cognitive health during his time as president.

In response, Biden appeared to suggest it would be appropriate for him to throw punches at Tapper and Thompson over their book and to show them he is still physically fit:

REPORTER: There's also been a lot of discussion recently about your mental and physical capabilities while you were in office.

BIDEN: You can see that I'm mentally incompetent and I can't walk, and I can beat the hell out of both of them.

REPORTER: Do you want to reply to any of those reports, and also to the fact that there are some Democrats who are now questioning whether you should have run for reelection in the first place?

BIDEN: Why didn't they run against me then? Because I'd have beaten them.

REPORTER: Do you have any regrets?

BIDEN: No, I don't have any regrets.

While I suspect he didn't mean that in a literal sense, imagine for five minutes if those words came out of Donald Trump's mouth, and the outrage that would ensue among the press and Democrats.

Heck, when Biden floated beating up Trump before (remember the 2018 "gym" comment?), there were next to no condemnations from the Usual Suspects about it:

“They asked me would I like to debate this gentleman, and I said no. I said, ‘If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him,’” said Biden, getting laughter and applause from the crowd at the University of Miami.

In May 2024, Biden lied about Trump's pandemic remarks on bleach, and "joked" about how Trump should inject himself with it:

"Remember him saying the best thing to do is just inject a little bleach in your arm? That’s what he said. And he meant it. I wish he had done a little bit himself," Biden said.

Guess that was just "Joe being Joe," right?
