NextImg:Of Course: Judge Blocks Deportation of Colorado 'Free Palestine' Terrorist's Family

In a move that will surprise no one given the rash of absurdly partisan and unsupported decisions handed down against the Trump administration, a Joe Biden-appointed federal judge in Colorado has blocked the deportation of alleged terrorist Mohamad Soliman's family.

As RedState reported, Soliman threw Molotov cocktails at peaceful Jewish mourners who were silently marching in support of the hostages still being held by Hamas in Gaza. He then shouted "end Zionists" and "free Palestine," all of which was caught on video. Later, he told law enforcement that he had no regrets, and evidence suggests he had been planning the attack for at least a year.

A twist in the story came to light a few hours later, though. As it turns out, Soliman and his family came to America from Kuwait on tourist visas (they are originally from Egypt) but illegally overstayed them. Based on what we know at this point, none of them ever gained any permanent residency either. Soliman was then granted work authorization by the Biden administration in 2023, but that ran out in early 2025. That revelation led the Trump administration to arrest Soliman's family for deportation, given that they have no right to remain in the country.

But as expected, a federal judge has stepped in.

Immigration reporter Bill Melugin posted the full order, which can be viewed below.

The petitioner is someone named Susanna Dvortsin and is described as the "next friend" of Hayam El Gamal, who is the wife of Soliman. I'm not the legal mind to break down the implications of that, but what I can say is that if this keeps up, there's not going to be an effective judiciary left. When judges continue to abuse their power, making obtuse rulings meant to delay the lawful exercise of executive power, they will eventually be ignored, and once that line is crossed, there's no putting the genie back in the bottle.

Does Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts want that? Because if he doesn't, he'd better start taking action sooner rather than later on reining in the lower courts.
