In an unrelated article I wrote on Sunday, I began with the following:
If this story angers you, disgusts you, or reinforces the importance of President Donald Trump's aggressive use of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to hunt down and detain "the worst of the worst" illegal aliens, many of whom were welcomed into the U.S. during the disastrous Biden-Harris administration, you're not the Lone Ranger; it had a chilling, "all of the above," effect on me as I wrote it.
As the late Rush Limbaugh might say, "Dittos" — meaning the above paragraph is applicable to this article, as well.
Incidentally, the Sunday article was about ICE rearresting an illegal alien after he was charged with decapitating a woman and hiding her body in a storage container filled with bleach in his backyard — and immediately released by an Illinois judge back into the community.

Anyway, as my colleague Nick Arama reported on Sunday, an off-duty Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officer was shot in the face on Friday night in Fort Washington Park in Manhattan at about 11:50 p.m. A suspect was taken into custody following the shooting.

The Department of Homeland Security posted the following to X on Sunday:
On the evening of July 19, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection @CBP officer was shot in what looks like an attempted robbery.
The officer, who was off duty at the time, is currently in the hospital in stable condition. One of the alleged perpetrators was an illegal alien with prior arrests for felony 2nd and 3rd degree assault and an order of deportation.
The New York Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
Fox News National Correspondent Bill Melugin reported on Sunday that DHS said the suspect is a previously deported Dominican illegal with an active criminal warrant out of the state of Massachusetts for kidnapping.
Disgustingly, we continue to see the same pattern, over and over:
An illegal alien — many if not most of whom strolled across the border during the disastrous four years of the Biden-Harris administration — commits a horrific act of violence. We then learn that the perpetrator has a long rap sheet and has been arrested and released multiple times, before he murders, rapes, abducts, or commits yet another unspeakable crime.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Monday visited the CBP officer who was shot during a botched robbery. As she provided an update to the media, Noem blamed so-called "sanctuary city" policies for playing a significant role in the senseless attack (emphasis, mine).
There's absolutely zero reason that someone who is scum of the earth like this should be running loose on the streets of New York City. He was arrested four different times in New York City, and because of the mayor's policies and sanctuary city policies, was released back to do harm to people and to individuals living in this city.
Inexcusable. Yet, an insane practice that we continue to see.
Noem identified a second suspect in the crime as Christhian Aybar-Berroa, an illegal alien from the Dominican Republic who "entered the country illegally in 2022 under the Biden Administration and was ordered for final removal in 2023 by an immigration judge." She added:
We were able to bring the second individual in and have detained him as well, and he will face consequences and hopefully strong prosecution for his crimes and his involvement on Saturday night.
Visibly disturbed, Noem put the reality of illegal-alien crime into perspective:
We've seen violence against our officers go up over 830 percent in recent days because of the rhetoric out of politicians... I would call on everybody today to recognize what can happen — how in one moment, someone's life can change.
Among those who will likely ignore Noem's clarion call are Democrats and other leftists who are far too busy attacking all things President Donald Trump to pay attention to such "insignificant" realities.
While I've personally seen several people's lives change — forever — in a mere moment, the seemingly never-ending violent crimes committed by "scum of the earth" who entered this country under Biden's intentional "open-borders policy" will remain a stain on a faux presidency that will (hopefully, and rightly so) be remember as the worst and most destructive administration in the history of the Union.
