NextImg:New: Unearthed Video Provides Smoking Gun for Adam Schiff's Alleged Mortgage Fraud

With a new president in charge and the Department of Justice not looking to give Democrats anymore passes, Sen. Adam Schiff's chickens may finally be coming home to roost.

As RedState reported back in 2023, the senator claimed a $1.7 million Maryland home as his "primary residence" on a federally-insured loan document. By doing so, he secured a lower mortgage rate. The problem? He's a politician from Burbank, CA, who would not have been eligible to hold the elected offices he held from 2003-2025 if his primary residence were in another state. So one way or the other, it looks like Schiff lied.

When then-President Joe Biden held the White House, that story went nowhere (for very obvious reasons). But those days are gone, and now-President Donald Trump doesn't seem very interested in looking the other way on possible Democrat criminality after they chose to weaponize the government to try to throw him in prison. On Tuesday, Trump announced that "Fannie Mae's Financial Crimes Division" had allegedly committed mortgage fraud, and shortly after, it was confirmed that a criminal referral had been made to the DOJ.

A senior administration official told The Post that the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which oversees Fannie Mae, has sent a criminal referral to the Justice Department requesting further investigation.

“It is extremely serious and [Schiff] is not taking it seriously,” said that official — who said the senator could face a criminal count for each time he paid his monthly mortgage.

Now, an unearthed video is providing a smoking gun regarding that criminal referral. According to Schiff himself, he has never had any other primary residence except in California.

SCHIFF: But our principal residence, our primary residence, is in California. It always has been, always will be.

It doesn't get clearer than that. Schiff pointedly says, unequivocally (in two different forms just to avoid any possible confusion) that his "primary residence is in California" and that "It always has been, always will be." For reference, that interview occurred well after he signed for the loan in Maryland, which makes that "always has been" absolutely damning. What would even be his argument at this point?

The answer is that he doesn't have one. Instead, Schiff has resorted to shouting "Trump!" loudly and claiming he's being targeted unfairly. That's rich coming from a guy who pushed every impeachment and criminal investigation of the current president, regardless of whether evidence existed or not. In other words, Democrats don't want to play by their own rules.

I hope the Trump DOJ goes just as hard here as the Biden DOJ went after him. Leave no stone unturned, and make Democrats live by the standards they set. There can be no deference for people who offered none. Is that "political?" Maybe, but so what? Republicans didn't start this, but they should finish it, and people like Schiff should be held accountable for any criminality he allegedly engaged in. Perhaps then, some lessons will be learned.
