NextImg:New: Trump Gives Bombshell 1AM Presser, Slams Emmanuel Macron, Slaps Down 'Ceasefire' Reports

Despite the opposition he's receiving from ostensibly "right-wing" figures, including Tucker Carlson, President Donald Trump is not backing down. On Monday evening, Axios and CNN reported that the White House was already working toward a "ceasefire" deal that would presumably save the Mullahs, but at 1:00 AM on Tuesday, the president held a press gaggle, slapping down those anonymously-sourced reports.

It sure sounds like he wants Israel to finish the job and take this to an actual end, not just a resumption of the status quo under some "deal." Trump went so far as to say that Iran "giving up entirely" is the goal and that “I’m not too much in the mood to negotiate."

The president continued by noting that he gave Iran more than enough time to come to an agreement to end their nuclear ambitions. Instead, the Mullahs used that time to stall and signal they weren't taking the process seriously. To say they overplayed their hand is an understatement at this point, with most of Iran's senior leadership already being dispatched and their military capacity in ruins.

That last quote also included this line when asked about DNI Tulsi Gabbard's assertion in March that Iran had no nuclear weapons program.

TRUMP: I don't care what she said. I think they were very close to having them

I'd consider that a shot across the bow to those in his administration who have sought to undermine him and push their own foreign policy goals in relation to Iran. In Gabbard's case, she may have just been repeating the Biden-era intelligence assessment at that hearing in March because that's all she had access to at the time. I won't speculate past that, but clearly, Trump doesn't see himself beholden to what she said.

With that said, there has been a cadre of anonymous leakers feeding Qatari talking points regarding Iran to the press over the last several months. Whoever those people are should probably get on board with the president's foreign policy or start considering other job opportunities.

Trump wasn't done, though. He also slammed Emmanuel Macron, who told the press that the president left the G7 in Canada early to work on a ceasefire with Iran.

The European reflex is always to push the status quo in these situations, but the status quo would mean Iran rebuilding its nuclear program and the world having to play this game into perpetuity. As I said on Monday regarding the recent report that Iran is begging for a ceasefire, the hard work is already done. Israel has total air superiority and can strike within Iran with impunity. The time to finish the job is now. Half-measures would be a disaster. Trump clearly understands that, even if some of his "supporters" don't.
