NextImg:New: The News Keeps Getting Worse for Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer

As RedState has reported, Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's standing took a big hit among New York voters not long after President Donald Trump took office for his second term, with a majority of voters in the Empire State feeling Schumer wasn't putting up enough of a fight against Trump and the Elon Musk-led DOGE.

Schumer backing down to Republicans and Trump on the continuing resolution in March was a bridge too far for some in the Democrat Party who began openly calling for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to primary him in 2028.

Schumer at one point even had to postpone a book tour, which was scheduled primarily in deep blue cities, due to the intense backlash from Democrat voters, something that was reportedly leading to "security concerns," according to staffers.

Though Schumer has still been trying to thwart Trump in every way he can, as we saw, for instance, with his actions related to the Big Beautiful Bill, he's generally kept a lower profile, perhaps hoping voters in his state would calm down and forget how much they disliked him as the months wore on.

Except they haven't:

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) favorability is at its lowest point among New Yorkers in the past 20 years, according to a new survey.

The Siena College poll, released Tuesday, found that Schumer — who was first elected to the Senate in 1998 — is underwater among Big Apple voters, with 39 percent having a favorable view of the lawmaker. About 46 percent said the opposite.

Specifically, the poll shows Schumer is "underwater" in New York for the first time in Siena polling history, with his favorability numbers dropping not just among Democrat voters but all voters:

Senator Chuck Schumer has his lowest ever favorability rating in a Siena poll (dating to February 2005),  38-50%, down from 41-47% in June. Among Democrats his favorability rating is 49-39%, down from  55-35% in June. For the first time ever, he is underwater with New York City voters, 39-46%.

The numbers dovetail with others we've seen in recent months regarding Schumer's popularity (or lack thereof) with New York voters.

Interestingly enough, his colleague, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, also isn't doing well with New York state voters, per the Siena College poll, though the disapproval stems more from Republican and independent voters than Democrat voters:

Since her re-election last year, voters have soured on Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Her favorability rating stands at 36-38%, down from 44-26% last October (among likely 2024 voters). While a plurality of Democrats view her favorably, pluralities of Republicans and independents view her unfavorably.

Obviously, 2028 is a long way off, politically speaking, but if this trend continues, Schumer might ultimately decide it's not worth staying in the fight and pass the torch off to some other New York Democrat. But if he's like other unpopular Democrats we've seen, he'll try to stick around in D.C. despite his age (74) and even though Democrat voters appear to be gravitating towards woke, younger, and more confrontational "leaders."

Editor’s Note: The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.
