You may recall how the Teamsters President Sean O'Brien spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in 2024. That was a big deal given the history of the Teamsters' support for the Democrats.
But it's not surprising, given how the Democrats were treating them. Here's how O'Brien described their dealings with Kamala Harris in an interview we covered in December.
The Teamsters going to the RNC wasn't a one-off - it was a sign of how much trouble the Democrats are in with union workers. The Teamsters' polling in 2024 showed they preferred Trump, for example.

Now, according to Politico, they're "signaling a more permanent realignment by donating to battleground Republicans in the upcoming midterms."
Their political action committee just donated $5,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee for the second year. Then, they donated to these battleground Republicans:
- Rob Bresnahan, Mike Kelly and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania
- Pete Stauber and Tom Emmer of Minnesota
- Nicole Malliotakis, Andrew Garbarino, Nick LaLota and Mike Lawler of New York
- Jefferson Shreve of Indiana
- Dave Taylor, Bob Latta, Michael Rulli and Dave Joyce of Ohio
- Jeff Van Drew and Chris Smith of New Jersey
- David Rouzer of North Carolina
- Tom Barrett of Michigan
- Blake Moore of Utah
- Darin LaHood and Mike Bost of Illinois
- Troy Nehls of Texas
- Vern Buchanan of Florida
They even donated to Republican senators, including Jon Husted (OH) and David McCormick (PA).
In battles that might be tight, where any little bit helps, that could make the difference, not to mention it's an indication of where the Teamsters' heads are. That's an enormous sea-change.
Beyond members of Congress, the Teamsters even donated $50,000 to the Republican Attorneys General Association. It looks like they understand that there's an issue with how some of the Democrat Attorneys General deal with crime.
These actions by the Teamsters should be a big, flashing sign to the Democrats that they're losing union workers. While the union is still donating to Democrats, they've upped their donations to Republicans, which shows the increase in their members who have grown disillusioned with the Democrats and/or prefer the right.
What has been the Democrats' response? What have they been doing over the past six months since President Donald Trump came to power? Defending illegal aliens and claiming crime isn't that bad-- not doing anything that would appeal to the American worker. So, they shouldn't be surprised if the workers are abandoning them for Trump and the Republicans, who are speaking to the issues that they care about. Trump is encouraging business investment and jobs to come back to the U.S.
