North Carolina Republican Addul Ali ripped an NPR reporter a new one after taking questions that appeared to provide cover for the Democrats and the person who brutally murdered Iryna Zarutska.
During a press conference on Wednesday, the NC GOP called out the policies of Charlotte's Democrat Mayor Vi Lyles and her party's soft-on-crime policies, like cashless bail, for the murder of the 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who was killed on the light rail by a repeat criminal offender on August 22. The man in custody facing federal charges for the killing is a 34-year-old homeless man and repeat offender, Decarlos Brown Jr, RedState reported. The exchange starts at the 33:55 minute mark.

The NPR reporter said he's heard a lot of speakers at the GOP event "blame Mayor Lyles and Democrats for being soft on crime." He then asked them if they could "name a specific city or county policy that led to Mr. Brown being free on August 22."
First up was NC GOP Party Chair Jason Simmons, who said, "We continued to see the policies of cashless bail" and the "policies that allow a revolving door within our courts and judicial system" that allowed people like Brown to "perpetuate the crimes that he did."
The reporter then got defiant and claimed that it was state laws that allowed this, apparently in an attempt to provide cover for the Democrats. Simmons hit back and said NC House Speaker Destin Hall has promised a review of legislation. In a post on X, Hall also wrote that "Social justice warriors in the judicial system let him [Brown] back out on the streets." He added that it was "time to clean up the courts."
The second question from the NPR reporter asked about the "night of the stabbing," and said Brown was "facing a non-violent misdemeanor and had been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. Are you saying that judges should detain people indefinitely based on past crimes, rather than current charges?"
Ali jumped in and blasted the reporter who appeared to excuse the murderer for the heinous crime he committed.
"One other point on this, and this is exactly why public media is defunded in this country," Ali said. "Instead of talking about why a person who has robbed people, who physically harmed people, was locked up. We want to wonder about the past and what he was out on now."
"This young man murdered somebody," he added. "Plain and simple. This young man had mental issues and had no business on the streets. And shame on NPR for asking such a ridiculous question."
The comments drew appreciation and applause from several of the people at the press event.

Earlier in the press conference, Ali talked about Iryna's murder and said Mayor Lyles and the Magistrate Judge, Teresa Stokes, "care more about their leftist ideology than they do about people taking the light rail."
"Under Vi Lyles' watch, crime has exploded," he added. "Make no mistake. Hundreds of murders in our city, make no mistake about it. And in fact, while crime is spiraling out of control, what do the Democrats want to do? They want to spend millions and billions of dollars on their pet projects."
"While Vi Lyles and the justice system are not taking action, I'll tell you who is taking action: President [Donald] Trump is taking action," Ali continued. "He's restoring law and order across this nation. He's putting victims like Iryna FIRST. He's supporting our police, securing our borders, and keeping violent criminals where they belong, which is behind bars."
The NPR reporter's comments echoed those of NC Democrat Congresswoman Alma Adams, who represents Charlotte in Congress, who reacted to Zarutska's murder by claiming, "You can't solve everything by putting people in jail. We can't nail our way out of the situations that are going on."
