Good morning, and welcome to RedState's "Morning Minute" — a brief glimpse at which stories are trending at the moment and a look ahead at what the day may bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for news to kickstart your day.

Oops: Woke Dem Who Claimed Illegals Are 'Constituents' May Have Just Bitten Off More Than She Can Chew

Clearly, Ansari is in over her head on this one, likely assuming no one would check the story her supposed "constituent" allegedly told her. What will Ansari say next? Will she quadruple down?

Rep. Tim Burchett Involved in Physical Altercation With Protester, Then Wrecks Him With Terrific Line

Burchett is not one who will roll over if someone gets physical with him.

Wait, What? Climate Scientist Says Sea Level Rising at Nowhere Near the Level They Claim

Time after time, these climate hysterics’ wild predictions are proven to be overblown—even as they rake in millions of dollars in green energy projects and “consulting” gigs.

We don't draw the line and mental illness. We draw the line at someone who is incapable of functioning in a responsible way because of their profound mental illness.

Reporter Stages Photo to Create Story

The "journalists" are not just in on it, but enthusiastic hoaxers themselves. They collude with the Democrats, push The Narrative™, and their readers are absolutely committed to believing anything and everything they are told.

The FBI Corruption Scandal Just Got a Whole Lot Worse

While the FBI was secretly investigating CEFC China for criminal activity, McGonigal was simultaneously tipping off the very people they were pursuing.

Sen. Bernie Sanders' Outburst at RFK Said the Quiet Part Out Loud

It was riddled with silliness, but the sticky wicket here is that while you might disagree with Kennedy on vaccines, the other side, the medical establishment, has some stones calling this man a kook.

We'd ask how O'Donnell can even sleep at night, but we already know the answer.

On a giant pile of money.

Today on Capitol Hill...

It's a bit unusual for a Friday, but there actually is a House hearing today — it's just not at the Capitol. The House Natural Resources Committee is holding an oversight field hearing Friday morning at the Jenny Lake Visitors Center in Moose, Wyoming, titled "The Great American Outdoors Act: Modernizing and Maintaining National Parks to Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday." I confess: I'm interested to see who's in attendance for that one. Presumably, Harriet Hageman (R) will be as the lone representative from the Cowboy State. Will colleagues from neighboring states join her? I'm going to have to remember to check that out.

But while Fridays are typically semi-quiet for the critters (on the Hill, at least), Thursday was quite lively as Democrat senators on the Finance Committee decided to hurl all their venom at Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — who more than held his own with them in the clips that I saw.

White House What's Up

President Donald Trump looks to have a full Friday schedule, receiving his intelligence briefing in the AM, participating in an ambassador credentialing ceremony at noon, signing executive orders in the early afternoon, making an announcement at 4:00 PM Eastern, and then hosting another dinner in the Rose Garden in the evening.

Vice President JD Vance had a little fun Thursday, mocking — for good reason — the viral "Handmaid's Tale" photo that Bonchie wrote on. (Huffpo's Jennifer Bendery, who initially shared the image, insists she's not one of the women in the photo, but the jury still seems to be out on that.)

Full Court Press...

As promised, I ate my crow yesterday on the USAID funding cases as the district court judge took the opportunity on remand to find in favor of the plaintiffs under a different statute — which the administration promptly appealed back to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. (Yes, it does seem like we're going round and round, but this one will eventually land one way or another.)

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals chomped on a Florida district court judge's attempts to shut down Alligator Alcatraz, staying the injunction and proceedings in the underlying case pending appeal.

Meanwhile, the 9th Circuit granted an administrative (temporary) stay of Judge Charles Breyer's order in Newsom v. Trump (regarding National Guard deployment to Los Angeles).

And we will, no doubt, have more fun court rulings to sort through today — it's like Law Nerd Christmas every day! (I'm being facetious — I know the process is tedious and often discouraging, but hang in there, friends.)

Next Monday, President Trump will deliver remarks at the Religious Liberty Commission Hearing, being held at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.

What will his announcement later this afternoon involve? Last Friday, I predicted a wild ride heading into the holiday weekend, and we got that Federal Court of Appeals ruling on the tariffs. Will we have another late Friday flurry of activity? (Odds are: Yes — I'm just not sure yet what it will be about.)

The memory's a bit foggy on this, but I vaguely recall, years ago, springboarding off of this discussion on hoop earrings and cultural appropriation and writing my own take on it, but I can no longer locate it. I was inspired at the time because I wear hoop earrings — have for as long as I can remember. Silver hoop earrings, to be exact. They're simple and versatile (I have them in several different sizes — smaller for everyday wear, big ones if I'm getting fancied up and going out on the town). Learning that this was somehow deemed "cultural appropriation" rather set me off.

But it underscored how ridiculously far we'd wandered into the Oppression Olympics. The value of victimhood as a currency had risen so sharply that people were going insanely far out of their way to find offense in whatever they could — because claiming to be on the receiving end of even a microaggression seemingly elevated one's status. I'm no social psychologist or cultural anthropologist, but I suspect this was a product of social media combining with privilege-guilt.

Whatever its cause, I believe the peak (or perhaps the nadir) of this competition to out-victim one another has passed. That's why images like the "Handmaid's Tale" one referenced by VP Vance above evoke pure mockery anymore. Someone needs to tell those gals (and their fellow travelers) that we're over the Oppression Olympics. They had their One Shining Moment for a decade or two, but now it's mostly just noise.

Are there still injustices? Yes. And I don't in any way dismiss legitimate grievance or the importance of simply being decent to our fellow human beings. But victimhood as a vehicle for clout chasing has lost its luster.

That's a BIG roly poly!
