The Army’s 2024 Extremism Policy As Haman’s Gallows
Public trust in the military is already at a low comparable to the Vietnam era. It cannot survive if extremists in the ranks are free to openly argue that morally-grounded Americans are fair targets for murder.

Meet the Next Weather Underground
Even if Democrats pull back from their violent rhetoric--hint: They won't--it will not stop the violence. They lit the fuse, distributed the Molotov cocktails, and sent tens of millions of dollars out to the groups that fund the violence.

We Totally Voted for Trump to Tick Off Tiresome Foreigners
It’s funny how they attempt to speak to us as peers. It’s actually quite adorable.
It’s going to draw out the freaks, but isn’t that the point? People need to hear these crazy points of view and hopefully watch them crumple under the weight of facts and common sense. It's also good entertainment.
Today on Capitol Hill...
The critters are still out, and the shutdown still looms. Things should be quite lively next week. In fact, they heated up on Wednesday after the Office of Management and Budget sent out a memo directing federal agencies to come up with a plan for layoffs in the event of a shutdown.
In an extraordinary memo sent out by OMB Wednesday, the White House directed federal agencies to come up a with a list of “reductions in force” – layoffs – for workers whose activities aren’t paid for via mandatory funds, didn’t get new money from the One Big Beautiful Bill or whose “PPA [programs, projects or activities] is not consistent with the President’s priorities.”

The unprecedented move by OMB Director Russ Vought dramatically raises the stakes of the shutdown fight just five days before the deadline. And it comes as the two sides still aren’t talking about how to avoid an Oct. 1 shutdown. Speaker Mike Johnson, who pushed through a “clean” Nov. 21 CR last week, isn’t even planning on bringing his chamber back until after a shutdown has begun.

I know I should care more about the looming shutdown showdown over government funding, but, to be honest, I'm already over it. I think my give-a-rip is completely tapped out at this point. In part, this is due to our being subjected to this every few months, and in part, it's due to just being emotionally wrung out over the events of the past few weeks. I've become numb to it all.
Will there be a shutdown? I don't know — maybe. The House already passed its clean CR, so they're not really even in the mix on this one. And I don't feel like I have as good a read on Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and how he'll finagle things in the face of Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.
Will it be the end of the world if there is? Likely not. Oh, we'll hear all kinds of howling and dastardly accusations and whatnot. But, as I said, I've grown numb to it all. Do what you've gotta do, Critters. Figure it out. And wake me when it's over. ????♀️
