Senate Majority Leader John Thune was pressed by a journalist during a brief media gaggle on Capitol Hill with other Senate Republicans Wednesday evening about the likelihood of President Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" going back to square one, after Elon Musk's remarks about the House-passed reconciliation bill.
His answer could not be more crystal clear: "Failure's not an option."

After a stark no in answer to the question, Thune elaborated, according to Fox News:
We're a long ways down this track. We realize that this is a bill that the House spent a lot of time analyzing. I think we spent...we've had like 18 different meetings now with the Senate Finance Committee, and we're committed to making a law that will make the lives of the American people better.
"We are moving forward and I am hopeful at the end, that we'll have 51 votes in the Senate," he continued, and said he felt confident his colleagues in the lower chamber would have the votes they need, "whenever the bill goes back to the House," to get the bill to Trump for signing into law.
Thune said, "The wheels are in motion on this and as I said before, failure is not an option."
While the Leader admitted that "it's not going to be easy," he said they "will get this done one way or the other."
Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) also made remarks, telling the gathered journalists that he believes the Republican conference has not only "very strong support" for the president's top agenda item, but that the upper chamber's GOP has "very strong unity" about it. Thune added that "we feel good about where we are" on the reconciliation bill.
