NextImg:Latest Leaks on Iran Are Absurd Beyond Belief and Point to a Nefarious Agenda

With Israel continuing to hit Iran's nuclear and military capacity, including its ballistic missile capabilities, the Islamist nation is getting more and more desperate. On Friday morning, the Iranian foreign minister took off from Turkey for Europe to meet with France, the United Kingdom, and Germany in what is an obvious attempt to push for a ceasefire that prolongs this issue for decades to come. Unfortunately, it's not just the perpetually weak Europeans who are looking to stop Israel from finishing the job, though.

According to a new report, "officials" are leaking U.S. intelligence reports claiming that the only way to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon is to allow them to preserve their ability to get a nuclear weapon. No, I'm not kidding.

U.S. intelligence agencies continue to believe that Iran has yet to decide whether to make a nuclear bomb even though it has developed a large stockpile of the enriched uranium necessary for it to do so, according to intelligence and other American officials.

That assessment has not changed since the intelligence agencies last addressed the question of Iran’s intentions in March, the officials said, even as Israel has attacked Iranian nuclear facilities.

Senior U.S. intelligence officials said that Iranian leaders were likely to shift toward producing a bomb if the American military attacked the Iranian uranium enrichment site Fordo or if Israel killed Iran’s supreme leader.

If Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, wrote that himself, what would be different about it? It's such a ridiculous assertion that one would be mistaken if they thought it was a parody. To be clear, the levels to which Iran has enriched uranium far surpass anything needed for civilian use. The numbers aren't even close, which makes the insinuation that Iran isn't already pushing toward a nuclear bomb absurd on its face. Everyone knows it, and none of these leaks ever explain that discrepancy.

But even putting that aside, how does destroying Iran's enrichment facility, which would take them decades to rebuild and restock (including the human expertise necessary), put the Mullahs closer to a nuclear weapon? It'd be like someone blowing up my house and then me claiming that I'm going to shift to cleaning the baseboards. When there's nothing left, it doesn't matter what Iran wants to do.

Further, how would taking out Khamenei, who has been the driving force behind Iran's nuclear ambitions and the person holding the current regime together, do what these "officials" claim? To me, that's the biggest giveaway here. These leaks, which are supposedly sourced from U.S. intelligence agencies that lied to the American public about everything from COVID to the Russian collusion hoax, reek of a narrative operation to protect the Iranian regime.

With Israel pounding Iran and having plans to take out Fordo without American involvement, the full-court press is on to stop that from happening and keep the Mullahs in power. No one should believe anything coming from these leaks. Whether it's the intelligence community or certain administration "officials" pushing this stuff, there's an agenda here, and it's not to tell the American people the truth.

That's also why we are getting reports of Iran wanting to negotiate "limits" to its enrichment levels as long as Israel stops its attacks. The limit has to be made zero by destroying their enrichment capacity, and if Khamenei secures another largely unenforceable "deal" (which any agreement would be) that gifts him the status quo, we'll be right back in this same situation a few years from now.

Understand that Iran is desperate for time because of how hard it has been hit. They know the clock is ticking on what little military and nuclear capabilities they have left. The clamoring for negotiations and a "ceasefire" is just a stalling tactic so valuable resources can be moved and air defenses can be rebuilt.

I can't say specifically which "intelligence and other American officials" are leaking this stuff to The New York Times. Others can speculate on that. What I do know is it presents as a telegraphed attempt to publicly undermine President Donald Trump's hard line against Iran and nudge him toward a preferred outcome that saves the regime and its nuclear program. Whoever is behind this needs to be rooted out and fired.
