On Friday, the D.C. news cycle was dominated by apparent tumult at the Department of Justice and reports that either FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and/or Director Kash Patel were considering resigning. The drama was caused by the DOJ’s statement Sunday that Jeffrey Epstein did in fact commit suicide and that there was no “client list.”
Many observers had expected more information and were critical of the report.
As I reported Friday night, Just the News editor-in-chief John Solomon said that he had information indicating that Patel was not going anywhere. Turns out, he was right, according to Patel himself:

White House Issues Statement Following Pam Bondi, Dan Bongino Rumors Over Epstein Files
While it looks like Patel is sticking around, it’s unclear what Bongino will ultimately decide:
Patel's remarks follow reports of a heated internal dispute involving FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and Attorney General Pam Bondi.
The clash reportedly stemmed from an unsigned memo released on Sunday with DOJ and FBI seals, that concluded Epstein did not get murdered in prison and that none of the available evidence included a so-called 'client list'.
The Attorney General has defended the memo, citing court orders and the protection of victims' identities as legal barriers to further disclosure.
Bongino, however, gave an ultimatum over the Justice Department's handling of the sensitive files, the Daily Mail can reveal, claiming he 'is considering resigning' if Bondi does not step down.
As RedState’s Katie Jerkovich reported Friday, the White House issued a statement saying that the issue will not hamper the DOJ’s ability to do the job:
"This work is being carried out seamlessly and with unity. Any attempt to sow division within this team is baseless and distracts from the real progress being made in restoring public safety and pursuing justice for all,” WH principal deputy press secretary Harrison Fields tells me in a statement.
In his report, John Solomon said that the FBI was heavily focused on their Russiagate investigation, and Patel would not resign when he’s on the cusp of such serious revelations:
…the FBI has a major investigation that looks at the last 10 years of what happened to Donald Trump as one large conspiracy case. No one's going to give up that opportunity.
Now, it is true that Dan Bongino, he's taking a few days to reconsider whether he wants to stay in the job. That's his decision…
Solomon added that there will be some big news coming soon:
I think next week, over the next 10 days, in the base who's been wondering, where's all that accountability?...
It's been masked by a lot of this infighting and drama and soap opera stuff, but the truth of the matter is, MAGA base Americans are going to be happy when they see where this is all heading in the next few weeks.
Stay tuned. Things could get even more interesting soon, if Solomon is right.
