Vice President JD Vance visited American troops in the United Kingdom on Thursday at Royal Air Force Base (RAF) Fairford, where he celebrated that they’re the reason President Donald Trump and his team are having successful negotiations with leaders around the world.
Speaking to airmen from the U.S. Air Force’s 501st Combat Support Wing and the 99th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron, Vance talked about the successful alliance between the U.S. and Britain throughout the last century.
“So I want to say for all of us back home in the United States, for all the people that you serve with, that you fight for, that you make it possible to live the American dream and peace and prosperity, We are proud of ya,” Vance said. “We are grateful for you. And as your vice president, I am damn proud to be with you today. God bless every single one of you.”
Vance then noted that the administration wants to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, and thanks to the brave men and women in the room and at bases around the world, they are making it possible to achieve that goal.

“So what you guys do, even though you may not see it every single day, is you make it possible, you make it possible to accomplish the president’s goals through negotiations," Vance said. "You make it possible for us to go into a room and say, ‘Yes, we want peace. Yes, we want to work together. Yes, we’d like to bring an end to this terrible conflict.’”
“‘But we’ve also got some great airmen back at Fairford and other bases that are going to make sure no matter what happens, the peace and the prosperity and the goals of the American people are going to be well served by what you do,’” he added. “You guys make that possible.”
“You guys are the reason why we can go into a negotiation with strength...Nothing that we do as an administration is possible without the hard work, the courage, and the skill that you guys bring to the job,” Vance continued.
In closing, the vice president said the “U.S. military is the envy of the world thanks to the brave men and women who make up our Armed Forces.”
“And that fact, the fact that so many people are impressed by you, the fact that so many people are frankly, afraid of you, is why we are able to do what we do as an administration,” Vance said. “So I just want to say from the President of the United States, we are proud of you. “
“We are grateful to ya,” he added. “We know that it’s not always an easy job. We know there are often long hours, but I hope you know that the peace and the prosperity and the safety of your countrymen depend on you doing a good job. And we are damn proud of the job that you do every single day.”
During Vance’s speech and visit, he was treated like a rock star with loud cheers and applause from those in attendance.
In videos and pictures that have since surfaced on X from the day’s events, Vance shook hands with the troops and greeted military family members.
An X post from Getty Images News read, “U.S. VP JD Vance addresses U.S. troops and their families in front of a Lockheed U-2 nicknamed the 'Dragon Lady', during a visit to RAF Fairford, England. The visit comes as Vance and his family spent part of their vacation in nearby Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds: Leon Neal.”
At one point, the VP handed out McDonald's.
Vance’s trip to the UK comes just days ahead of Trump’s highly anticipated meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where President Trump plans to address an end the Ukraine-Russia war, as RedState reported.
