Man, oh, man, did Jake Tapper just set the bar lower for the mainstream press. In one of the most shameless turns a journalist has ever executed, the CNN host is releasing a new book on, and I quote, "Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again."
Close up shop. I can't top that.

By this point, I'm sure most of you have your mouths gaping at the implications of (checks notes) Jake Tapper pretending to be an authority on Joe Biden's mental and physical decline, but for those that may happen to be initiated, let me explain how mind-numbingly absurd this is.
The national press, including Tapper, spent years maligning conservative sites like RedState (and conservative podcasts, television stations, etc.) for telling the truth about Biden's severe descent into senility. As far back as the 2020 presidential debates, I was writing pieces detailing how the former president was showcasing speech and memory issues that weren't normal for someone who wanted to be president.
After he took office, I even made a special tag for my posts called "senile" to keep them categorized because I was writing so many articles about Biden's inability to remember things, his mixing up names, his awkward pauses, his sudden bouts of anger, his wandering off during public events, and his complete ineptitude in exiting stages after speeches (and that's an abbreviated list). Never mind the reports of the former president's issues in private, with him reportedly not even knowing what an executive order he had signed did.
Yet, it was mid-2024 when the press' obfuscation truly reached its peak. After I and other conservative writers wrote about Biden wandering off during a photo-op in Europe, Several news outlets, including CBS News and CNN, slammed us for pushing "cheap fakes." The White House then picked up the line and repeated it several times during press briefings. The assertion? Biden hadn't wandered off, having to be redirected by Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, but had simply walked over to greet another skydiver.
The problem with that explanation? World leaders were posing together for photographs at the time. The assignment was to stay in position and watch the skydivers land together. An aloof Biden wasn't even capable of doing that and ended up having to be escorted back like a nursing home patient. So no, it wasn't a "cheap fake" to show the video of him wandering off because he did wander off. There are lots of other examples as well.

As to Tapper specifically, he scoffed at any criticisms from Republicans over Biden's health until the late June 2024 presidential debate. Only then did it become acceptable for the press to speak out, and they did so with utterly partisan, selfish motives, i.e. believing that the former president could no longer win. For Tapper to now put himself in the position of truth-teller regarding Biden's condition during his presidency is a level of shamelessness not yet conceived of. Heck, for anyone at CNN or any of these legacy press outlets to do that is laughable.
What's happening here is obvious. This is a way for Tapper to cover up his participation in the cover-up. From now on, the CNN host can proclaim that he didn't help mislead about Biden's condition. You see, he's so honest that he even wrote a book about it!
It's transparent, and it's insulting to those of us who had the forthrightness to tell the truth long before it became convenient for the mainstream press to do so.
